Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. Image deletion warning | Image:Cannabis_cigarettes.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:ThomasTelford.jpg
edit
Thanks for uploading Image:ThomasTelford.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Bluring iPod screens
editHi. Just wanted to say that bluring the screen was a good solution and a much better alternative than cropping out the image. Just wondering which tool you used since e.g. Image:SE W900 flickr.jpg could use something similar. /Lokal_Profil 12:47, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- I used photoshop :) I'll fix that image right now! Sorry for the long response time, didn't see it until now Notwist 15:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Notwist!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Hi, I see you've worked on this picture and uploaded a new version. Thank you for that. Yet, would you care to retract and upload it again under a new name? This is the best version we have of the original sepia photograph (and it has been promoted as the valued image for the scope "Oscar Wilde"), and your derivative version significally changes its colours. For this reason, both versions should be allowed to exist simultaneously. I thank you in advance. --Eusebius (talk) 16:07, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ofcourse. I'll upload it under a new name and revert it. Thank you for the heads up. Notwist (talk) 16:12, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

editHey. You did some changing of my picture, Veronica Maggio.jpg I can't see what you done, so loved to know. Oderwise I remove your name Danielåhskarlsson (talk) 16:49, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hello Daniel, I'll answer your question in english as a courtesy to other readers. I presume you are talking about the file File:Veronica Maggio.jpg. If you look at the bottom of the page you can see the original version and the newest version. Just for the sake of being clear, here are the permanent links to both versions for you to compare: original vs. retouched. Regards Notwist (talk) 18:21, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
--Holger.Ellgaard (talk) 20:21, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Your speedies
editHi Notwist,
File:Berber warriors.JPG is heavily used and cannot simply be deleted without replacement. I tried to hide the upload entry with your realname, but that didn't work. Therefore you should re-upload this image under a similar filename, but without your realname in the description. Thereafter we could substitute and then delete the old one. The same with File:Max visby.jpg, File:Sunset and a skislope.JPG and all other images. --Túrelio (talk) 19:43, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I successfully hid the details at File:Sunset and a skislope.JPG. Will try the others now... Rehman 11:03, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, it did not work. Look at the lower part of the page at the most right field of the boxed table. --Túrelio (talk) 11:10, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. Page data can be hidden, but as you said, data within the upload log cannot. But I think if Notwist reupload the same file over the same file as a new version (yes, you read right), then we could delete the old file (along with the upload log), and the necessary page history... Rehman 11:12, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Or as you said, a simpler way would be to upload the same file on a different name and delete the current once and for all... Rehman 11:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Real name? I don't see it on the file and we might be able to edit the history if you can show which edit is a problem. It is such a widely used file it would be difficult to justify speedy when other options may exist. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:11, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Billinghurst, please see #Your_speedies above. Rehman 12:20, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- And I looked at the bottom only (D'oh!). There is a methodology to manage this, see http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard&oldid=48116819 where it talks about reloading copies of the files with a new file history, and we can hide the older versions. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:34, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
The real name is in the comment at the bottom of the page (where you can see the different versions of the file, only one on this particular image though) Notwist (talk) 15:45, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Just for the record; I am absolutely not opposed to the continued use of the images, I just want the name gone. If you wish to reupload the images, that is fine by me, but I would very much want my name deleted. Thank you. Notwist (talk) 15:44, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- But it is to be preferred that the re-upload happens by yourself (under your username, but without reference to your realname). --Túrelio (talk) 15:45, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Since I don't have the right to delete images it would seem to me that it would be easier for an admin to do it. All you'd have to do is download the images, copy the description text, delete the image, upload it again. For me it would require me for do the same thing, except I can't delete the pictures so I then have to post links to the old images to be deleted, and all links would have to be changed to the new file name. Also, If I wish that my pictures be deleted, do I not have that right? I seem to remember there being a "right to disappear", does this not also apply for images? Notwist (talk) 15:50, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Pleeeease. 1) You have the right to disappear (as a user), but that does not refer to your images. 2) You can wish the deletion of your images, but after having them uploaded under a free license, formally you don't have control over them; though we sometimes grant that wish out of courtesy if the images are not in use and if there is a compelling reason. 3) Above I had explained to you, why the images cannot simply be deleted, as they are in use. 4) until now, at least 3 other users/admins have dedicated some time to fulfil your wish, as you can easily see from the discussions above. Therefore, you could be a little more cooperative, IMHO. 5) A re-upload of these images by their original author is of course to be preferred over a re-upload by somebody else. And as written already 2 times, this re-upload does not require that you disclose your realname. --Túrelio (talk) 16:20, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- What's with the attitude? I was merely suggesting that it would be less work and a smoother transition for someone who is actually capable of deleting the pictures. I wasn't aware that it was preferred that the author reuploaded the images because I didn't think it mattered (they are free license anyway). I tried uploading them anew now, I got a warning that the picture already existed, I tried choosing "save anyway" but it doesn't seem to have been uploaded. Could you please delete the following files and I'll reupload them momentarily as I now have them downloaded to my computer: File:Construction in Agadir, Morocco, 2006.jpg, File:Berber warriors.JPG, File:Max visby.jpg, File:Sunset and a skislope.JPG, File:Alstern (2295732069).jpg. Or do you have a better idea? Because I can't seem to get the upload to work when there are duplicates. Notwist (talk) 17:57, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- You tried to upload them with the same filename (= new version) or with a different filename (as I had suggested in my very first posting)? Did you activate the switch "ignore warnings"? If not, try it. I have deleted the only unused file of your above list. If I delete the other ones, the links to the projects will break. Though I don't know how fast, due to the somewhat erratic behaviour of the CommonsDelinker. Therefore, I prefer (as stated above at "Your speedies") the file to be re-uploaded under a slightly different filename. Thereafter I can command the CommonsDelinker to change the usage links to the new name and the "bad" can be deleted without breaking the links. --Túrelio (talk) 19:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

- "1) You have the right to disappear (as a user), but that does not refer to your images" <- I was merely pointing out that the right to disappear should also apply to any information on the image pages, I never said anything about the pictures having to be deleted (they are freely licensed and I cannot revoke that, nor would I want to) but if the only way for Commons to remove the data that I want to remove is to delete the picture then it would make sense that that is what Commons have to do (and then reupload). Regardless, I am cooperating and I don't see what I've done to deserve the kind of attitude you're giving me, it seems highly unsuitable for a person in an administrative position to act in a non-helpful way towards users, and I should know because I'm an admin on the Swedish wikipedia myself and I consistently try to be pedagogical and nice even to people I heavily disagree with. I'd appreciate actual suggestions on what to do instead of your demeaning attitude. Notwist (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
New files uploaded: File:Berber warriors show.JPG - File:Max Visby Gotland.jpg - File:Sunset skislope.JPG - File:Alstern varmland.jpg Notwist (talk) 23:58, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- As you may have seen already, I've now deleted the 4 old files, after all their usage had been replaced, mainly by the CommonsDelinker, except of 3 manual substitutions. For forensic reasons I've added the date of the original upload of the now deleted versions to the description of the new uploads. If you prefer, you may remove that. It was meant as a safeguard in case you have to provide evidence of your first publication/release. --Túrelio (talk) 14:02, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Treinamento2.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Treinamento2.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:Monique Wadsted and Rasmus Fleischer.jpg is missing author information
editHello! The specified license for the work says that it "may be used freely by anyone for any purpose as long as the photographer is credited, where applicable, as required by non-waivable parts of Swedish copyright law.". The "where applicable"-part makes me a little uncertain. If this means that it is not applicable if the author is not specified (like in our case), then all is well. Otherwise use and re-use of the image is not possible. Unfortunately the image is no longer available at the given source. If you happen to know who the author is, can you perhaps update the file information? --Bensin (talk) 16:52, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Most likely the image was missing author information when it was put up on the pirate party website as well. The way I see it, it should be enough to credit The Pirate Party of Sweden as the author, in lieu of the actual photographer stepping forward. If the Pirate Party published it on their website I think it's safe to assume that it was a member of the party that took the image, and by publishing it on their website without author information they consented to the party's license, basically allowing republication without crediting the author.
Grazie, Nemo 16:08, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
