Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

about getty
editHi, this guys are professional photographers, they are earning their money with making photos and selling them. You can ask GettyImages, gettyimages.com, the world largest image distributor - your chance is 0,00%. Accept it, it is not so easy to get free images, we are searching hard and of course we already have a fair number of realy free images of this singers. Dont be so greedy for the best images. --Martin H. (talk) 01:50, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- http://www.gettyimages.com/?language=es. All images on this site are PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT. You can buy the images for YOUR purposes (including commercial use), usage one a small private website like a blog is ~200$. But paying 200$ means, that YOU can use them, not everyone. Images must be free for everyone, for every purpose like newspapers, television,... --Martin H. (talk) 02:03, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Good work, correct upload. For my taste you should crop a little more on the top of the image to remove the ugly knob/bolt (tornillo). And you should leave more on the left side, so that the handle of the umbrella is complete. That will make the image look magical, floating. --Martin H. (talk) 05:03, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh, i missed something, or did it changed again? The license of the image is cc-by-NC-sa. The NC means noncommercial and noncommercial is a restriction that is not accepted here. You must ask for a free Flickr license, at the moment the image is unfree and will be deleted. I thought it was cc-by-sa, but maybe I oversight it. --Martin H. (talk) 15:26, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Flickr uploads
editWord of advice: there are existing tools which will automatically upload images from Flickr to Commons, and one of the benefits of using them is that they will grab the highest quality image available. The images which you had uploaded as File:Baby One More Time 2009.jpg and File:Piece Of Me.jpg were both available in higher resolutions on Flickr, and I've overwritten your uploads with them. Personally I prefer Magnus Manske's tool to do the uploading as it's faster than the Flickr upload bot. Tabercil (talk) 18:16, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
File:Estatua Vma08.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
--Martin H. (talk) 19:16, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Dont worry, the image is nominated for deletion because theire is a discussion if photos of wax figures are OK on Commons or not, see Commons:Deletion requests/Wax figures - this file is listed there. The reason: Wax figures are artistic works, photos of wax figures are derivative works, some people argue, that this kind of derivative works is allowed because the law of the United Kingdom has a broade Commons:Freedom of Panorama. --Martin H. (talk) 02:12, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Asking for review
editHi Kpo!09, i always get a message if someone edits my talkpage. Your upload is marked as "Flickrreview needed", the image is listed in the hidden Category Category:Flickr review needed. There is no need to ask me for every image, the review can be done by any of the Commons:Flickr images/reviewers or Administrators. I dont deny to help you, asking for help is ok and I will gladly answer you. But asking for flickr review image by image on my talkpage (and indirectly via email) is a bit too much. Please be patient, the Flickrreview will be done inside the regular process of Flickrreviewing, thank you for understanding. --Martin H. (talk) 16:22, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Upload problem!
editHello Kpo!09!
Can you explain this edit? --High Contrast (talk) 18:42, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- The question is why you uploaded a lower resoluted image (768×1,024) to replace an high resoluted file (2,448×3,264)? --High Contrast (talk) 10:49, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- That won't work. Equal what you think what could be better seen or not, always use the highest resolution of flickr-images. But don't re-upload again before deletion debate is closed. --High Contrast (talk) 20:32, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Quite clear you uploaded this photo as own work, but you are not the photographer. Do not take images from other websites and upload them as "own work" if you are not the photographer. --Martin H. (talk) 07:07, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

What do you do! No google images, only freely licensed images. You must know the name of the author, you must know the name of the license the author want to publish his work and you need the authors written permission. I dont know how often I told this to you, why did you still not learn? Did you ever read Commons:Primeros pasos. Obviously not, sorry, but after all this and after User talk:Gaston santucho 09 / User talk:Gaston Santucho 09 it is enough on Commons. --Martin H. (talk) 01:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
