A better way to import files from Geograph Britain and Ireland
editWelcome to Wikimedia Commons! I see that you've been importing files here from Geograph Britain and Ireland for use on English Wikipedia, and that's very good: keep it up! However, there is one slight problem: pictures on Geograph are licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0, a fairly restrictive licence, while you tagged the files with CC Zero 1.0, which has no restrictions whatever. This is technically a copyright violation (hence the notice above from Brianjd). I've fixed the problem for your uploads from last night, so you don't need to worry about them.
Because there are so many pictures copied from Geograph to Commons, we have a few ways to make it easier. On any Geograph picture page (e.g. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2366863), there's a link just under the picture saying "reuse", which takes you to a page like this: https://www.geograph.org.uk/reuse.php?id=2366863. At the bottom of that, there's a section with some rough instructions for copying the file into Commons. I usually use Geograph-to-Commons, except for the 5% of files it mysteriously breaks on, where I fall back to Special:Upload. You can also carry on using the Upload Wizard: just choose "Another reason not mentioned above" on the list of copyright tags and paste in the {{geograph|...}} line from the "reuse" page. --bjh21 (talk) 10:22, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
