The contents from my last kiln load, minus the redacted work that’s being kept secret until later in the year. Warm tones, lots of metallic vessels, and a few refires, such as the central teapot. It initially fired with a touch of patchiness towards the base on one side, but a second dose of heat and reduction seems to have fixed it. The patch is still there, but its edges have blended in with the surrounding glaze and the clay beneath has become even more metallic, thus making my glazing mi... Florian Gadsby on Instagram: "My YouTube film this Sunday continues my exploration of testing new stoneware clay bodies and incorporating iron spangles, ground up hammer scale, into them. In this instance, I’m blending down two course clays with my usual, ES80 stoneware, both of which previously, when fired raw, gave me lovely results albeit for some cracking in some places… so hopefully this mixture gives me the best of both worlds. You can watch the fully narrated video by following the link in my profile’s biography. I won’t make many pots with such a mix of materials. Rather, they’re thrown to show in combination with all my other wares, to stand out as individual pieces, punctuating the lot and breaking up the otherwise glassy green, blue and white tones.
