Akin Osibogun
Prof Akin Osibogun is a Professor of Public Health at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos who served as the Chief Medical Director of the 800-bed Lagos University Teaching Hospital from 2006 to 2014. In that capacity, he oversaw the clinical and professional training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical doctors as well as 8 Schools providing basic and post-basic professional training to Nurses, Midwives, Health Information Officers, Dental Nurses, Medical Social Workers among others. He established at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital the first and only School of Basic Dental Nursing in Nigeria.He has had the opportunity of serving as a Short Term Consultant on Health System Strengthening to the WHO Geneva on various dates between 1993 and 2003, Visiting Fellow (Epidemiology) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 1994, an International Fellow at the Andrija Stampar School of Public Health, University of Zagreb, Croatia in 1993, a Visiting Lecturer at the Andrija Stampar School of Public Health 1994-1997, and Special Consultant on PHC to the Honourable Minister of Health, Nigeria in 1998/1999. He enjoys his involvement in postgraduate training of health manpower and he currently pursues that as a member of the Faculty at the College of Medicine University of Lagos.
