Woman builds her own corner sofa using plywood and memory foam

Iva Harrison, from South East London, shared her impressive DIY carpentry skills after crafting a velour corner couch from plywood, memory foam and a bright blue velour fabric.

I did as much of the prep work as I could in my shop and tried to make sure everything was going to line up as it should when it was time for install. When one of the designers @homeinteriorscapes I work with asked me about building this custom piece inspired by one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s couches I was super excited. I love when I get the opportunity to create something unique. We worked closely with our clients to ensure this sofa met their exact specifications. Starting with a solid Walnut base, set back plinth with proud legs and rounded edges to coincide with existing mid century modern furniture in their home. Instead of splayed arms they requested 90 degree Waverly arms, to maximise the available space meaning more generous seating capacity. Full feather and down seat and scatter interiors to ensure ultimate comfort. All topped of with a incredible view overlooking the ocean 🌊
