The changes that sought to respond to the confinement due to the pandemic raised scenarios that, with the return to face-to-face, it is possible to assess their long-term influence on HEIs. This article responds to the need to document the modifications that were made during the pandemic and that persist in the return to educational establishments in terms of student mobility, particularly about the function of virtual international educational experiences and the way in which they coexist with physical student mobility. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with officials with key involvement in the management of student mobility (and internationalization) during the pandemic. The officials belong to six HEIs-three public and three private-that are characterized by having a considerable volume of student mobility. What was called "virtual mobility" and its relevance to describe the changes experienced are analyzed. In addition, the adaptation processes and the way in which HEIs integrate virtuality as another means of internationalization that complements, but does not replace, physical student mobility are discussed.

The present discussion provides concrete ways to analyze power in education. Power is assumed to be everywhere, but a guide on how to understand the operationalization of power is a necessary contribution, particularly in the field of education. The inclusion of this entry in the section on "diversity, democracy and social justice in education" provides different angles on the realities of territories where diversity is not always accepted, where democracy is not always an ideal and where social justice seems as though a utopic fantasy. Ideologies and politics need to be taken seriously when educational change is at stake. The entry first presents the conceptual puzzle on education, knowledge, power, globalism, (ethno)nationalism and social justice. Then, it suggests ways to analyze their relationships and hierarchies. Finally, two case studies are presented and contrasted to show the applications and implications of this entry's content.

Many authors underscore the critical importance of networks of individual women scholars and leaders in advancing their own and each other's work. More broadly, Kristen Renn highlights the power of institutional networks-in this case, among women's colleges and universities-to address and overcome systemic barriers to women's advancement. Fanny Cheung, Amalia Di Iorio, and Adéle Moodly cite the role of associations, including ACE, in organizing and supporting national, regional, and global women's networks. And by bringing together researchers A ladder is only as strong as its weakest rung. Going forward, we need global approaches to shore up the ladder for women leaders in higher education, remove barriers, and promote their success. ACE and CIHE are committed to this work, and we look forward to ongoing partnership with our authors, counterpart associations, and women leaders around the world to elevate women's voices, advance research, build networks, and ultimately, improve equity and quality in higher education at the institutional, national, and global levels.

It mandated the approval of three general laws: The General Law on Education (September 2019), the General Law on Higher Education (April 2021), and the General Law on Science (May 2023). For several months, the academic community was divided between those in favor of and those against the proposed General Law on Science, given its centralized, authoritarian, and archaic vision of science and knowledge production. The new law was passed in both chambers of the Mexican congress under questionable circumstances, and with violations to the congress rules due to human rights abuses by excluding academics working at private higher education institutions and students from CONACYT programs and scholarships. Therefore, a long legal battle over the fairness of the law began. Shaping Higher Education and Scientific Systems Historically, governments have sought to control or shape educational and scientific policies, with the latter being more common. Sociologist Robert K. Merton noted that totalitarian regimes view academic freedom as a threat, while democratic regimes provide ideal environments for the development of science. López Obrador has established several reforms that many in Mexico's academic community have characterized as populist. In basic education, these include curricular Abstract Mexico's new General Law on Science has divided the academic community, given its centralized, authoritarian and archaic view of knowledge production. The future of science in Mexico looks grim, as academic communities are not only grappling with a lack of funding but also facing attacks on academic freedom and, in extreme cases, freedom of speech.
