Adiantum hispidulum Sw., a species of the widespread maidenhair fern, is officially reported for the first time from NE Thailand. We present a description of this newly recorded species and discuss its geographical distribution, phenotypic variation and conservation status.

The Lycopodiaceae sensu lato is one of the large family of vascular plants comprising about 480 species. Treatment of the genera in this family is rather different among botanists ranging from a single genus, i.e. Lycopodium s.l. to 15 genera. Phylloglossum Kunze, is usually recognized as a distinct genus and family, Phylloglossaceae due to its unique characters and endemics to Australia. The most recognized classification segregated members of the Lycopodiaceae into three genera, namely Huperzia Bernhardi, Lycopodiella Holub, and Lycopodium L. s. str. The purpose of this study was to find additional evidences to support the separation of Lycopodiaceae from south-east Asian countries into one or more than one distinct genera. Asplenium cardiophyllum (Hance) Baker, a species of fern endemic to East Asia, is reported for the first time from Thailand. We present a description of this newly recorded species and discuss its geographical distribution and conservation status.

Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S.C. Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Chiang Mai province, Thailand. This area is related from Himalayan region that composed of dry evergreen forest, hill evergreen forest and semi-alpine forest including many small limestone hills scattering to the summit. The area approximately 521 km 2 in size and altitude ranged between 600-2225 m a.m.s.l. The survey of pteridophytes was explored between August 2012 – May 2014. A total number of 320 specimens were gathered from limestone surface, calcareous soils and some epiphytes. There were 140 species 54 genera and 22 families found in this area, more than 50 % of them were distributed from Sino-Himalayan region. Adiantum membranifolium S.Linds. & Suksathan and Selliguea hirsuta (Tagawa & K.Iwats.) S.Linds. were reported as endemic to Thailand. A new fern species, Hypodematium boonkerdii (Polypodiaceae subfamily Hypodematioideae), is described and illustrated from a limestone area in northeastern Thailand. It is distinguished from its closest relative, H. crenatum, by having a membranous lamina texture, sessile or subsessile pinnae and only one sorus per pinnule segment.

Air plants have an important role in the removal of air borne contaminants. In this study, epiphytic Tillandsia (Bromiliaceae) species have been applied in formaldehyde (FA) removal from the air environment .The removal rate of five plant species were tested in a glass chamber attached with real time indoor air quality (IAQ) gas sensor probe. The absorptive capacity of Tillandsiatrichomes were investigated and viewed by Scanning Electron Microscope. The removal formaldehyde efficiencies of high trichromesTillandsia species: flexuosa, T., capita, T. brachycaulos, T., ‘cotton candy’ (T. stricta× T. recuvifolia) with intact trichomes, were found less than in T. bulbosa leaf with less trichrome. All plants exposed to FA had a reduction in measured leaf chlorophyll with ranged from 14 to 35 %. With the advent of new technologies and innovations in the field of applied sciences, waste treatment has been combined with resource recovery, e.g., biogas, biofuel, water for reuse, biochemicals, and fertilizers. Microorganisms are ubiquitous in the biosphere. The most significant importance of the microbes on earth is their roles to recycle the elements involving biogeochemical cycles (carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, and metals). For example, based on the microbial metabolism of respiration and fermentation, several organic compounds can be broken into smaller molecule such as carbon dioxide (CO2). On the other hand, the release of H2S gas from hot springs, crude petroleum, volcanic gases, refineries, sewage treatment industries, and paper mills has also shown to cause significant human health and environmental hazards....

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of an air membrane bioreactor (aMBR) for the treatment of gas-phase methanol. A laboratory-scale hollow fiber aMBR was operated for 150 days, at inlet methanol concentrations varying between 2 and 30 g m-3 and at empty bed residence times (EBRT) of 30, 10 and 5 s. Under steady-state conditions, a maximum methanol removal efficiency (RE) of 98% was obtained at an EBRT of 30 s and a decrease in RE of methanol was observed at lower EBRTs. On increasing the inlet loading rate, some portion of gas-phase MeOH was stripped into the liquid phase due to its solubility in water. Under transient conditions, the MeOH removal efficiency dropped from an average value of 95%-90% after 5 h of 10-fold shock load and dropped from an average value of 95%-88% under 5-fold increase in shock load.
