It has often been poorly researched in the past, possibly because of the difficulty in measuring menstrual blood loss. Several different therapies are available and individual women can choose from a number of options. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as mefenamic acid or indomethacin will be the first choice for many women as they have few side effects and it is only necessary to take them when menstrual bleeding occurs. When contraception is also required , combined oral contraceptives are helpful. Progestogen and danazol therapy are also effective, although side effects do occur. A new development has been the levonorgestrel-containing intrauterine contraceptive device which has been shown to result in large decreases in menstrual blood loss. For those women who would like a surgical approach but do not want to undergo hysterectom y, the relatively new technique of endometrial resection results either in amenorrhoea or reduced menstrual blood loss in the majorit y of women.

In all, 1210 men showed abnormal semenograms according to World Health Organization criteria. Karyotyping of the white blood cells in these 1210 men revealed 44 (3.6%) individuals with either autosomal or sex chromosomal aberrations. However, no single characteristic feature of their semenogram or clinical condition was of any diagnostic value to predict the existence of a chromosomal anomaly.

There is a clear lack of rational, scientific and evidence-based practice in the field. Treatment remains arbitrary. This brief review tries to summarize concisely the etiology, diagnosis and management of the four categories of Ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD). This review also challenges the role of pharmacotherapy in the management of Ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD).

Despite several breakthrough discoveries, little progress has been made in type 2 diabetes outcomes over the past 100 years. Younger age (below 60 years), a diet high in calories and processed food, and severe obesity (body mass index >35 kg/m2) may identify reversible beta cell dysfunction. Much of the clinical presentation pertains to flooding the body’s adaptive limits with overnutrition. Recognizing this as a global societal trend brought about by lifestyle changes, sedentary work, mental stress and unlimited access to calorie-dense foods is crucial. Insulin resistance and genetic abnormalities cannot account for the dramatic increase in diabetes, from only 1% five decades ago to nearly 10% today. Obesity – and not insulin resistance – is at the core of the problem. As well as hyperglycaemia, end-organ damage can also be reversed with diet and weight loss in many affec...

To find out the characteristics of semen and spermatozoa in alcohol users and compare these characteristics with that of non-users of alcohol. Methodology: The data on alcohol use and semen analysis were obtained from case records of patients reported to the Department of Andrology & Reproductive Medicine of a tertiary care hospital for a period of one year from January 2018 to December 2018. The semen volume, sperm concentration, motility and morphology in alcohol users were compared with non-users. Results: A total of 231 patients had reported to the Department of Andrology & Reproductive Medicine during the study period. Among them 81 (35.06%) were alcohol users and 150 (64.94%) alcohol non-users. Analysis of their semen reports revealed that the difference in semen volume and sperm morphology was not found to be statistically significant, but the sperm concentrat...

Despite having normal spermatogenesis, these men present with infertility as the ejaculate is retrograded into the urinary bladder, due to various causes. Diagnosing this condition involves thorough history taking followed by examination of post-masturbatory/coital urine. Retrieval of spermatozoa from the bladder maintaining its vitality is crucial in providing fertility treatment. Various methods employed in retrieving motile spermatozoa from the bladder in literature is either invasive or cumbersome causing inconvenience to the couple. Here, a simple and non-invasive spermatozoa retrieval from the bladder (SPERB) technique is described in detail. Case report of the couple who conceived using spermatozoa retrieved by this method is discussed.

Aim : This study was done to determine the complications that can occur in pregnant women with polycystic ovary syndrome, and to ascertain whether the complications are related to PCOS per se or the Body Mass Index (BMI) of the women. Materials and Methods : Data was collected from case records. Study group had women with PCOS, selected according to Rotterdam criteria and control group had women with unexplained infertility, with women in both groups achieving pregnancy either spontaneously, following ovulation induction (OI) with timed intercourse or controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) with Intrauterine insemination (IUI).
