A Lovely Catchup and Spring Swap

I have had a lovely week off this week and the best part was (apart from my lovely Spring swap parcel arriving) was that I finally got to meet Michelle from Rag-Tag Stitchin'. I have been buying Michelle's patterns and following her blog for quite a long time, and it was with her and Chookys encouragement that I finally  started my own blog 12 months ago (oops forgot my one year anniversary 24th August). So  I really felt that we were already best friends, but was great to finally meet her in person when she was holidaying in my area.  We caught up for a meal at the local hotel
We had the best night and lots of laughs, including the fact that we got kicked out a 9 o'clock because we were the only ones left. So lovely to meet you and Mr R Michelle.
Michelle recently had a special birthday, and as we are both snowy lovers, I just had to stitch her this.

I showed you last post my beautiful Spring stitchery from Julie, my swap partner in Mrs Martins "Let's Celebrate" swap.   This is what I sent to Julie -
which is one of Michelle's lovely designs from her Seasons mini quilts pattern.
together with these Spring themed Theodora Cleave buttons.

Spring Swap Goodies

I received a lovely parcel in the post today from Julie, my swap partner in Mrs Martins "Let's Celebrate" swap. The project for this month was to be Spring themed, and how lucky am I -
This photo does not do it justice - so many pretty stitched flowers in gorgeous colors. Will definitely become a wallhanging so I can enjoy it every day. I just love it Julie, thankyou.

She also added some other lovely spring themed things -
How beautiful are those buttons.

And I did manage to finish my Stitchalong project for August organised by Chooky. This month's project was a sewing bag from Anni Downs' book "Some Kind of Wonderful". I did alter it slightly to incorporate the sewing themed fabric -
Back soon. Cheryl

One (or Three) Christmas Items a Month

Time once again to join in with Narelle at Pins and Whiskers and all the other busy little elves for 1 Xmas Item a Month.  I got a trifle carried away this month lol -
The  felt ornament on the left is one of Michelle's (Rag Tag Stitchin') lovely patterns from a Handmade mag. I have more of these cut out ready to sew, including a very cute little snowman. The other is a Marg Low pattern called "Deer Tree".
Then I pulled out this ufo - it's actually a bell pull. The stitcheries were done, so was just a matter of putting it together and quilting it. Now that isn't my great quilting on the stitcheries - I used a waffle fabric that was already quilted which was great to stitch on.

Have a great week Cheryl

Lots of Sewing Happening Here ...

but not a lot I can show you - spoilt sport arn't I, but lots of secret sewing happening here as lots of us are doing at the moment. But have quite a lot of new things on the go (as always) that I can show you -
This "Pudding House" is a project from my class recently, and is appliqued on lovely linen (love working on linen at the moment) and will be needleturned onto the background once I've finished stitching it.
And you know I can't resist a snowman project - there are six stitcheries, as well as applique in my new wallhanging project. Am stitching it in "Cobblestone" - a gorgeous cottage garden thread I hadn't used before in blues and fawns.
This is the second of the projects from my recent class stitched in my favorite CGT "Hugs and Kisses".

I have added a couple of "treasures" from a recent explore of some local garage sales -
The roses drew me on this one - to add to my growing collection of old Cadbury and chocolate tins.
And I love beautiful doilies, especially old ones, so of course I could not leave them there.

A Busy Day and Some Happy Mail

I have had a lovely day stitching with Lisa from Fig'n'Berry Creations doing my favorite class - a Christmas one, of course.

But first I had two lovely packages in my mail box yesterday, and knew they were coming but still exciting to receive them  and the anticipation of opening. I was one of the lucky recipients of a wonderful giveaway on Peg's blog - Happy in Quilting, and this was what she sent me -
Beautifully wrapped in a gorgeous fat quarter
How gorgeous is this sewing pouch/pocket - it will be used often and treasured always, thankyou Peg.  Plus she had added a beautiful ribbon, DMC threads, scissors and quick unpick. Just love it.

My other lovely mail was from Marina - she had some patterns that she had bought and was looking for a new home for, and she so very kindly sent me two of them -

Now I'm not promising I'll get them done this year Marina, but I will certainly enjoy making them, thankyou.

I was a bit engrossed in stitching, so not as many photos as I would normally take, but these are the two projects we received today -
The cutest table runner - the photo does not show all the lovely little details - I promise to show mine when I get a bit further advanced.
And this lovely wallhanging which I am stitching in Cottage Garden thread "Hugs and Kisses".

I went garage sale hopping before my class, and did manage to find a treasure or two, so will show you those next time. Have a great weekend. Cheryl

FNWF and Some Holiday Shopping

I joined in with Friday Night with Friends with Cheryll and lots of others last Friday night, and managed to finish the stitching on this -
My little winter mini, which is one of Michelle's lovely patterns from RagTag Stitchin' - love him. Now to find some wintery fabric to finish him off.

Had fun shopping while I was away recently, and thought you might like to see what little fabric treasures I found -

Some of Kathy Schmitz' new range "Round Robin" plus a jelly roll - will have to go looking to find something to make with it.
And couldn't not have some new xmas fabrics,
and xmas patterns.

And couldn't resist these little snowman cuties from Birdbrain Designs. Feels like it could do that here at the moment.
Have a great week. Cheryl
