I usually don’t make new work for a show, preferring to have the curator choose from existing work.   The reason is that it puts too much pressure on myself. Of all the work that I make, some of it is better than others. If it doesn’t stand the test of time, I throw it out.   But I know how this curator, Daniela Saxa-Katano at Palos Verde Art Center @pvartcenter loves color, so I’m challenging myself to embrace it.   Barnett Newman made a series of paintings called “Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue”. I am!
