The weekend started with a bang!

We have not had any rain here for weeks...so we were all surprised by a huge thunderstorm late on Friday which dropped nearly 2" of rain in about 1 1/2 hrs with wind & hail. My workplace had water pouring down walls...not very nice & the trees dropped any remaining leaves. Fortunately we weathered it well...just a bit of garden damage from storm water...very fortunate!
Before it started....
the end result.
DD started organising fabrics for her first quilt...so exciting to watch her play...why do cats love fabric??..
and Julie dropped in with a funky flannel number which she has just completed.

Another stinking hot day!

It is 9am, the wind is HOT & blustery!
It is already 35C & the winds are gusty northerlies & you can smell the smoke in the air.
I hope everyone stays safe & the firefighters day is not too terrible.
There are apparently fires out near Kandos & Rylstone...that might be where the smoke is coming from.

This is the bush behind our home.
I get quite paranoid about it on days like this. We are very particular about keeping it mowed out behind the fence & keeping our yard neat & free of rubbish. Sadly our neighbours are not so diligent...read dead mowers, boats & car bodies...& long grass! Nice people though!

On a brighter note...
I have had this Liberty Star pattern looking at me for some time now...
she just needs a face & Noel to be appliqued on her skirt...cute!

I love the Flea Market fancy fabrics...oh so hard to find...so I entered the giveaway...sorry for the button but I would really like this!

Blowing in the wind!

A blogger problem...can't move pics around, so I will type around them & see how I go!
Above is some stitching for Chrissy presents that I did on Monday...
looking good I think!
Like many bloggers on the east coast of Australia, we woke this morning to a surreal burnt orange sky.

It had a creepy "end of the world" feel to it, but it was the most amazing dust storm swept up by wicked winds overnight. Visibility was reduced to about 300m!

I have an amazing amount of fine dust through the house...some serious dusting & floor washing is ahead!
Sadly the topsoil carried by the wind will be sorely missed out west...
hopefully it won't hit New Zealand as predicted.
...hope all the Aussie bloggers weathered the dust storm!
