What the reality was that gave rise to the experiences I do not know" (E. P. Sanders). Write a critical assessment of and response to this view.

Second-year BA Theology essay on Christian influences on Charles Darwin, specifically looking at Anglican influences. It is not well known today that Darwin's Theory of Evolution was greatly influenced by commonly held Christian beliefs, especially by the theories of the Anglicans Thomas Malthus and William Paley. This essay assesses these Christian influences, and touches on the religious beliefs of Darwin himself.

Third-year Theology BA dissertation looking at the futility of interfaith dialogue in today's secular world.

This essay traces the developments of secularism and pluralism and sees how these feed into the concept that interfaith dialogue is somehow a means to truth.

The main argument is that interfaith dialogue, though seemingly all-inclusive, is actually an exclusive exercise that, in the way it is commonly practiced in the West, only accepts those who adhere to pluralistic and secular assumptions.

Abstract


This dissertation evaluates how West African churches in England can encourage social transformation and community development. Unequivocally, West African immigrant churches in England play significant role in terms of social transformation within black communities.1 Nonetheless, this assessment asserts that these West African immigrant congregations can as well play significant role in the broader English community. Such contributions to social transformation in the broader community could be maximized if these churches fashion a model of mission that focuses on social transformation and community development. In addition, West African churches can encourage social transformation and community development in England by collaborating with local authorities and other community organizations to offer joint local initiatives for the needs, concerns, and challenges of neighbourhoods and local communities. Christians just like all other people live in neighbourhoods, communities, towns and cities and are called to reflect the caring heart of God and live out its calling. We understand from the Bible that God is concerned with orphans, aliens, widows, the oppressed, and the poor. When Christians truly reflect the heart of God there is the awareness of the need for social transformation. Human services are provided, homeless are sheltered, the poor are cared for, the hungry is fed, orphanages are established, the sick is taken care of and there is the advocate for the needs of the oppressed.
