Alberta, Canada Road Trip: Day 5 (Pyramid Lake)
I don't think I got 4 hours of sleep last night but we had to wake up early because we have places to see before the husband and I leave this area and our wonderful friends and travel buddies behind. We had a long night last night. The dinner at the Korean restaurant went on and on until we realized that we were the only ones there. The servers were just too polite to tell us that it’s way past closing time. Once we got back to the hotel/lodge, we parted ways on to our own rooms long enough to grab some snacks of chips, charcuterie, leftover wine then we gathered outside by the bonfire and continued chatting until the food was gone and it was very very late.
Anyway, because this was our last day here we have a few more spots to visit. Initially, we were supposed to begin the day with a Maligne Lake cruise, but just before we came to Canada, we got an email canceling this activity because the lake was still very frozen. They did not think the ice will melt in time for our cruise. Thankfully, our friends penciled in sort of replacement. Not that we would be skipping Maligne Lake altogether, but the order of the spots to visit had changed because of the cancelation.
But first, we needed fuel for the day, so we drove to Jasper town to find coffee.
Ghost town in the early hours.
We found this local coffe shop that has a very welcoming vibe. The space was open and airy and inviting. I wish we had time to linger here.
So charmed by the art on the cup that we made sure we took this home as a souvenir.
Few shots of Jasper town on the way out.
Pyramid Lake. This was our first stop for the day. To be honest, I was not really expecting anything at all. Just another lake, I thought. But I was so very wrong. It's one of the most picturesque locales I've ever been. On the way, we passed by another lake, Patricia Lake.
We didn't stop there, but I've been doing drive by shooting for years now, so this is the one and only shot we have of the lake.
Once we got to Pyramid Lake, my mind was blown. To me, it was like a spiritual experience. I don't know what Shangri La looks like, but I bet Pyramid Lake is pretty close.
The lake lies at the foot of Pyramid Mountain.
Our stop here was for a little sightseeing, picture-taking and eat breakfast. The sad part was that we were not able to do any hike at all, although we originally thought we could swing it until someone mentioned about time limitation.
We found the perfect breakfast spot with great views of the lake and the mountain.
This series is almost finished, finally. I thank you for visiting.
All beautiful but I found myself struck by the architecture of the church - very unusual.
