Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Easter Egg Mug Rug Tutorial

Man oh man....I just noticed that Easter is early this year! Time just keeps flying along. Looks like we need to get our Easter decorating done a little earlier this year. There still are a couple of weeks before Easter so you still have time to make this cute little egg shaped mug rug from Sew today Clean tomorrow. Very easy and quick so you can use that Easter fabric stash to make several of them. :)

Happy sewing!

Dyed Robin Eggs - Tutorial

Can you believe that these are NOT real Robin Eggs? I had to do a double take and read through the directions to realize that I can actually do these AND so can you! These eggs are dyed in a natural solution, varying the length of time in the dye giving them an ombre of blues. AND the speckles...it is edible metallic gold paint! Who knew there was even such a thing...well, at least I didn't. They are just gorgeous and there is time to get these done before Easter! Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Easter

Well Easter is fast approaching. Oh my....where does the time go! As you probably know by now I am a vintage fan. Actually I love all antiques and vintage. Easter is so colorful with all its pretty pastel colors so I thought I would look on Etsy today to find some Easter vintage items for you.

Oh my look at these paper mache Easter egg candy containers from santahauntedboot. I like the old fashion look of these.

Look at the color of this plate! I just love all the pastels. Do you remember Avon plates? This is one of them from basicallyBaca. I think my mom had a few of those Avon collectible plates..hmmmmm.

Oh such cute little birds from PurpleHousePicks! I just love these little guys! They are little salt and pepper shakers just love their expressions. I collect salt and paper shakers of all kinds of cute things maybe I should add this to my collection. What do you think?

And of course Easter wouldn't be Easter without an Easter basket. And look at this one from jeanneelmer it has all those vintage Easter picks also that you can use for cupcakes. :)

Lots of pretty colors in this Easter items isn't there. Hope everyone has a great Easter with family and friends!

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Vintage Easter

Still time to do a little decorating before Easter next week. :)  Easter colors are so pretty. I love all the pastels and pretty pinks and yellows and flowers so let's visit Etsy and see what vintage Easter items we can find. :)

Speaking of pretty pinks, yellows and flowers how about this cute lamb planter from TheShabbyChateau.

This lovely vintage doily from LittleDixieVintage would look nice sitting on a table with an Easter arrangement on it.

Oh my look at the beautiful colors in this porcelain egg trinket box from vintagebiffann. Sit this on a table and you would surely add to your Easter decor. I absolutely love the colors on this!

How about hanging this suncatcher from MyWanderingEye in your window. What a beautiful suncatcher.

So there is still time to do a little bit more decorating before Easter. Having Easter in March is unusual, but it does happen sometimes. Kind of confuses my calendar tho....LOL! :)

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

Vintage Easter

Easter is this Sunday and Easter always brings back memories of Easter's past when we all use to dress up in our Easter outfits and go to church. All the flowers were so pretty and if we were lucky the sun was shining and the snow was gone.

I thought we would take a nostalgic step back to Easter's of past with some vintage finds from Etsy.

How about this cute little vintage pull toy candy container from kccaseyfinds. It is so cute and colorful.

What a pretty wall decoration for Easter. You can find this at grandmothersattic. She has lots of different designs too.

Of course, what is Easter without the Easter basket. How many of your remember these baskets? I do!  Oh,oh....aging myself again. :)  I think I probably even had some of these. SkyWayVintage has this cute basket and several other items.

Then for all you scrapbook people and collage makers look at this beautiful vintage greeting card from ItsAllTreasure. What a beautiful card to use for your art project. Almost makes me want to take up making collages. :)

Well hope you liked our trip back to the earlier days of Easter Sunday. I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Easter. :)

Happy Easter!

Colleen :)

Easter Crafting Tutorials

Well Easter is getting closer. Just a few weeks away. Seems a little early this year to me. How about you?  We need to get busy and get those Easter decorations done.

So one of the most popular decorations are Easter bunnies. I found this tutorial over at The Little Fabric Shop and I think it was the colorful bunnies in the basket that I found so appealing. Of course mine would never turn out this good, but maybe yours would. :)

Now of course the bunnies will need carrots to eat and these carrots over at MardiGrasOutlet look almost good enough to eat. Now I have never tried to make anything with that mesh, but it doesn't look to hard.

Next we have the traditional Easter egg. Well these aren't quite traditional, but they are a nice spin on the Easter egg. I like the old fashion look to them and the lace and charm make a great addition. Over at craftsandcoffee you can find out how to make these decoupage eggs.

Then we need Easter baskets to put everything in. I thought these cute little baskets from Jessica over at Inkitupwithjessica that are made from card stock were so cute. Just think of all the designs you could make.

There are so many things you can make for Easter. I guess it is just deciding which one's you want to do. Hmmmm....now what shall I make.  Have fun with whatever you are making. :)

Happy crafting!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: EASTER BUNNY AND LIFE

I got this out of a paper I was reading the other day….yes…..can you believe it..... some of us still read a paper newspaper! I thought it would be appropriate for the holiday this weekend.

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket

Everyone needs a  friend who is all ears

There is no such thing as too much candy

All work and no play can make you a basket case

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits

Some body parts should just be floppy

Good things come in small packages

The grass is always greener in someone else’s basket

An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare

To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell.

Keep your paws off other peoples jelly beans

I thought this was cute. I especially like the one about all work and no play……I can relate to that and becoming a basket case. J

So wishing all of you a very
HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

Colleen :)

Needles-n-Pins Stitcheries: Easter and Spring Fabrics

I am a quilter at heart and love this time of year with all the pastel colors of Easter and spring. Since Easter is right around the corner it makes me want to make something "springy" and something for Easter. Etsy has so many wonderful shops with great fabrics. If I can't find what I need at my local fabric store I always can find the fabric on Etsy. So with that in mind...let's look at some of the Etsy shops that have some really neat Easter/Spring fabrics.

It just wouldn't be Easter without bunnies and chicks!! I do a lot of fussy cutting in my quilts as there are so many beautiful pictures on the fabric these days so this fabric would be great for that. Alice In Stitches Art has this wonderful fabric for you.

And of course you have to have eggs for Easter! Looks at how pretty these greens and lavenders go together. You can get this at Stitch in Stash.

And look at how pretty this fabric bundle is from Colleen (not me!) over at Cattales has. I have all kinds of ideas I could make with this fabric...hmmmm....may have to try them out. :)

Now if you are really in a hurry and need some applique fabric eggs all ready to go Sew Fun Quilts has these all ready to go. How easy would these be to put them on a quilt or maybe t-shirts for the kiddos. Good idea!

Well showing you all of these really neat fabrics has made me want to get into my sewing room and get busy! Let me see....now.....what can I make.....:)  Hope this helps you get those creative juices going too.

Happy sewing!

Colleen :)
