This week I finished a dress I started at my last garment making class..... It's a seersucker fabric and has ties which can go in the front or the back depending on the look (I quite like them in the front)
I wore it the other day and got some compliments but I also got "That's what I call a Tablecloth Dress"
I'm not sure what to make of that - is that fabric for a tablecloth (I was given it from a friend who had no use for it) or do I look like a table in it??????
Anyway it was comfortable and cool and I shall use this pattern again

There was a big tree in a box in the garage, my daughter came and picked it up (apparently we were just storing it) so now I have had to order one so for the moment the decorations are waiting patiently.
I started sewing the next braid quilt - the same as the last but in my (lack of) wisdom I cut two jelly rolls. They are easy but I do find it rather tedious doing hundreds of the same thing.
In the evenings I have been working on this KOGO blanket. I know they take blocks but get a lot of them and need to find people to make them up so I thought I would try and get blankets done...... they are closed for a while with Christmas so gives me time to make an adult one.... Next year I can probably get a child's one done each month.
There was a request for blankets in the Torres Strait Islander colours - white red and blue
More sorting has been done, a few stitches of embroidery, plans made, fabrics and threads chosen ..... etc etc... and of course all those Christmas get togethers are happening .....

Great dress - nothing like a tablecloth to my mind! Cute little decorations, a lot of little stitches in there. No tree up here either - I will get it down next week and start decorating. Lots of lights up around the streets here although with another storm howling around this morning I am wondering how they will all fare. Have a good week. xx

Well, that was a rude comment! Those stripes make a person appear taller so very smart of you to use this fabric. Yes, seersucker is very fresh fabric for the hottest day of the year. So, great choice of fabric here again. So, what was her problem? Jealousy? Never sewn a button properly in all her life? You did an excellent job. The gathering is even and so is the bottom hem. And it fits you. That's A+ from me. Don't take criticism from someone you would never go to for advice, is my piece of advice.
The decorations are so cute. I don't understand the braid quilt and why you had to cut them with a V at the bottom. Looking forward to seeing more pictures of that project. Enjoy! ;^)
I like your dress and no I don't think it looks like a table cloth, there is nothing wrong with wearing seersucker. Beautiful ornaments.
I love your dress Fiona, the colour, the style - everything. I am guessing they mean the seersucker fabric, NOT how it looks on you. Some people can be very rude! Your new decorations are just so sweet. xx

I used linen fabric for my summer dresses and summer pants... I really enjoy wearing linen. Now I'm wearing a self-knitted sweater made from the finest, burr-free wool yarn... I knitted it with a cable pattern... the snowflakes are dancing outside :-) beautifully.

The dress is lovely and doesn't look like a tablecloth at all! I love seersucker, I used to have a dress in it and a top too. Comfy and cool! xx
