i eotaksin-1 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom CCL11. Ovaj gen ima tri egzona i nalazi se na hromosomu 17.[5][6]

Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]CCL11 je mali citokin koji pripada porodici CC hemokina. CCL11 selektivno regrutuje eozinofile, inducirajući njihovu hemotaksiju, te je zato upleten u alergijske odgovore.[8][9][10] Efekti CCL11 posreduju se njegovim vezanjem na receptor povezan sa G-proteinima, poznat kao hemokinski receptor. Hemokinski receptori za koje je CCL11 ligand uključuju CCR2,[11] CCR3[5] i CCR5.[11] Međutim, utvrđeno je da eotaksin-1 (CCL11) ima visok stepen selektivnosti za svoj receptor, tako da je neaktivan na neutrofil imai monocitima, koji ne eksprimiraju CCR3.[12]
Klinički značaj
[uredi | uredi izvor]Povećani nivoi CCL11 u krvnoj plazmi povezani su sa starenjem miševa i ljudi.[13] Pored toga, pokazano je da izlaganje mladih miševa CCL11-u ili krvnoj plazmi starijih miševa smanjuje njihovu neurogenezu i kognitivne performanse na ponašanje za koje se smatra da ovise o neurogenezi u hipokampusu.[13]
U sadašnjih korisnika kanabisa utvrđene su veće koncentracije CCL11 u plazmi, u odnosu na ranije korisnike i one koji nikada nisu koristili. CCL11 je također pronađen u većim koncentracijama kod ljudi koji pate od shizofrenije; kanabis je poznati pokretač shizofrenije.[14]
Također je biomarker za CTE ili sindroma opojnog udara.[15]
Tokom upala kostiju, CCL11 i CCR3 su regulirani. To je povezano s povećanjem aktivnosti osteoklasta.[16]
