New addition at Cedar Meadows....

This sweet little baby Elk...mom is losing her winter coat,
as soon as I slowed down, mom and baby started heading back up the field, so took a pic quickly, fence and all... Little did this Dragonfly know where he landed..on my bug zapper...lucky for him it was just sitting on the picnic table, not in use..

A damp and dull day at camp today, better days ahead...

My catch for today..

Caught this fellow today, he was swimming away from me, when I started clicking, he heard me and turned and scurried back into the culvert, which was great as 'he was coming towards me' now, I was trying to focus on him, and he was rushing, but I was still very pleased with my catch. Notice he has a fish in his mouth too....
Not sure if it is a Mink or Marten or what, any ideas???

A content fellow...enjoying his day...

Out for a drive and hubby said, "there's a groundhog", he stopped the truck and I inched closer and closer to him, what a cute fellow, he was quite content with my presence !!

A neat 'find' today ...

We walked around the camp today, it was a beautiful day, 29 degrees C. Came across this Pileated WP hole in a tree, after looking closer, realized what interested the WP's for sure !!
And a beer cap to boot ! Ha!!

A few at Hershey Lake today...

This is a local swimming lake in the summer laid out with great walking trails, in the winter months many people feed the birds and I believe there is an annual bird count done here also.
First time out for me this winter, it was cool at -12 c. but nice to hear the birds chirping and this lonely squirrel squawking at me...

It's a Bugs Life...

A few Notable Sawyer's, have also been called, Spruce Bug, but actually I think the Spruce Bug is a little different, more black, but is related to this fellow, on the screen room... Look at the chompers on this one

Not sure if these are eggs or not around its neck, wasn't that noticable to my eye, (taken with the macro lens) until I seen the pic later, by this time it was gone, wish I had looked closer.
The other two don't have near as many... neat anyway...

Just hanging out...

Took a few today of our daily visitors, at the camp, the chipmunk thought he had died and gone to heaven until Mr. squirrel showed up and seeds scattered !!! There were 4 chipmunks and the squirrel all taking their turns at the over turned jar of peanuts and seeds..it was a fun photo op!!

A Gray Squirrel...

Arrived home safely tonite, great trip, great pics!!
Finally managed to bribe this gray squirrel into the campsite, yesterday with the old peanut trick, lol, they are much more cautious and take off with the slightest movement, unlike his cousin the black squirrel, who was always at the picnic table. Taken in Niagara Falls, On

A few visitors to...

Our campsite in Owen Sound, Ontario, a few days ago,
this is what I just love about taking our trailer and staying in parks
instead of a hotel room. When the weather is nice we always trailer
it rather than the hotel thing, people are very friendly and you never
know 'who will come and visit'...:)

A local black Squirrel...

We are on a weeks holidays in Sunny, warm Niagara Falls, Ontario

Here is a handsome black squirrel, at the campsite, where we are parked, who I have been feeding peanuts the last few days, he is now my best friend...:)

Have taken lots of pictures of different stuff, will post as I get time..

A Spider and his supper...

I witnessed a 'nature moment' yesterday at camp, initially I was just intrigued with the spider and the 'neat web'...he was just lying there, waiting I guess, as all of a sudden,
he flew down the web and

grabbed this unsuspecting mosquito into his clutches and began eating

It didn't take long for him to suck all the life out of the mosquito, I couldn't believe what I was seeing,

when he finished, he dropped the black shell and went back to sitting quietly patiently waiting for his next meal!!!

The two who almost got away..

Notice the 'rear end' of this beautiful Raccoon, I was so ticked at myself, that I missed a perfect shot of him, I think a 'once in a lifetime photo op'
He was beautiful.. first one I had ever seen so close, we are starting to get
the odd one up here, I've heard, but I have yet to see one.

I had the perfect chance to get a nice capture of this fellow, too, but by the time the truck was stopped and I was ready he was heading into the bush..
