BABY HATS
Hi everyone! My name is Lana and it's my first time posting here, so I'd like to say congratulations to all the new moms:~D I do quite a bit of knitting for The Preemie Project since all three of my boys were between 11 and 5 weeks early. You can check out my blog for more photos and links. Just thought I'd share some full term hats/booties that are hot off the needles. It's time for holiday knitting to commence since the holidays will be upon us in no time! Some black and yellow for the Hawkeyes donation and a pumpkin set to get rolling for the Preemie Pumpkin Push. Can you imagine all those precious babies in their pumpkin outfits! Too cute!! I'll be working on some blue/white; red/white and red/green sets too, but first comes the pumpkins!

Back in the Saddle again
I'm back to knitting fairly regularly (when I can steal a moment or two). Here's the latest FO for my son:
I also started a fast knit project for a baby shower this weekend.
This is one of two booties (obviously two...it would be silly to knit only one for a two-footed baby). I did finish the toes, but I hate Kitchener stitches. Or at least I do when I have bad directions for them. Once I had good directions (I still use them because I haven't done it enough to remember), it went pretty easily and quickly. I had to tighten it up, but it's lovely now. I'm planning on adding an edging on them too, to make them not so plain. Not bad for a last minute gift, huh?Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Entrelac Blankie & Child's Placket Neck Pullover
It's been a while since I posted- our big boy is now 3 months old! Here's a photo of Jakob with the Patons Decor entrelac blankie I made. There was no pattern, each square is just ten stitches wide, worked in the usual entrelac way. Once I finished the body I did 3 rows of single crochet around just to finish it off.
This is Jakob modeling the Child's Placket Neck Pullover from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. It's not quite cold enough but I was afraid he'd grow out of it. I knit the 6 month size and the only change I'd make would be to add about 2" in length.
I can't wait to knit more of these!

Shorties!
I just finished these off tonight so they will be off to the laundry in the morning for a wash and lanolising so that my boy can start wearing them.
Pattern - Picky Pants (with a couple of modifications to the waistband and shaping)
Yarn - Cleckheaton Merino Suprime (like an Aran weight I guess)
More details on my blog.

Another Babies & Bears sweater finished!
I just realized that this is the fourth Babies & Bears sweater I have knit this year. It is, however, the first one I've done in a solid yarn:
yarn: Ironstone Farms Harmony (MC = #11016/CC = #13060)
pattern: Babies and Bears sweater by Cottage Creations
from my LYS, made by Incomparable Buttons (http://www.buttonmad.com/)

Soaker
I knit this soaker for a friend's baby due in the fall. I love how it turned out. It's my first experiment with hand dyed yarn.
back:
front:
It's the punk-knitter pattern. Sorry I don't have the link right now.
And I'm curious--What is everyone doing with the hand-knits that the babies outgrow? Are you keeping them all?

Progress on Dress with Eyelets
I have been working on my Dress with Eyelets for the past few evenings after the kids are in the bed. I had to take out the eyelet row a few times to get is correct, but I think I did a good job on the modifications to the pattern to knit it in the round.
I am thinking about making a pair of the Saartje's Booties to go with this dress. If you haven't seen what they look like here is the link to the pattern: http://members.home.nl/tdpj/Patronen/Bootees/Saartjes%20bootees.pdf . Happy knitting.
You can see the decreases I had to do to make the cute little eyelets. This pattern is from the Baby Knits for Beginners book by Debbie Bliss. I saw the dress on another blog and thought it was so cute that I had to make it. Keep in mind, I have to sons, but someone in my life will have a daughter one day. Hopefully it will be me! And she will be really cute in this dress.

Greetings!
Hello!!
I saw this blog and knew I just HAD to join. I'm not pregnant and don't plan to be for a long time but during the course of 2007, five of my girlfriends have/will have given birth!! I love reading what kinds of things people are making little ones in their life.
These are some pictures of the recent things I have made. (Since seeing this blog, I want to make a baby Shedir too ) More details can be found on my blog
Here's Trellis from Knitty
Here's my kitty Luna posing in the Madison hat (there's a link to the pattern on my blog)
And finally here's a pic of my other kitty Layla posing in the Vine Lace hat Heather posted a picture of (personally I like Heather's color better...I'm gonna go to the grocery store and get some Kool Aid)
I really look forward to seeing everyones items! This will definitely be a blog I visit daily.

finally finished!
Here are the dress and slippers I started for my little one way back in March (she was due at the end of May, plenty of time). Well she decided to come on April 2nd (almost 2 months early) and all knits went on hold while we dealt with her prematurity, they wouldn't have fit her anyway. I finally finished this 2 weeks ago and it fits her perfectly, I will post a picture of her wearing it after this weekend.
I also finished this Zimmerman February sweater. The buttons are picked out, I just need to sew them on.
More detail and pictures on my blog.
Mad Hatter
These are some of the hats I made this summer. A few are from Itty Bitty Hats, some are my own design, and of course the Ann Norling Fruit Cap. I modified the Daisy hat so it is intarsia. Baby hats are my version of the sock knitting obsession. Hats are a very portable project and quick to finish. There is nothing cuter than a baby in a hat.
