This is a case study of a Filipino gay child in conflict with the law (CICL) admitted in a youth center for minor offenders. It analyzed the experiences of the gay CICL and how his sexual orientation had an important bearing in the rehabilitation process. The Philippines progressed with provisions for the minor offenders or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 (R.A. 9344), to contribute to the child's best interest and protection. However, there is a seeming lack of focus on sexual orientation in the legal provisions and on the crafting of the rehabilitation process inside the youth center. Through the analysis of the narratives, recordings, progress reports, and results of a followup interview, it was established that being gay in a youth center has an impact on the rehabilitation process and as to whether community reintegration will become successful depends on received approaches that are appropriate and LGBT-sensitive.

This research dealt with incest cases where biological fathers are the perpetrators and biological daughters are the victims. Documentary analysis on father-perpetrators was done, and validated by the collaborative interviews conducted with social workers handling the incest cases. Moreover, the intellectual functioning and coping practices of the daughter-victims were measured through Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales: 5 th edition (SB5) and Adolescent Coping Orientation to Problem Experiences respectively. Narratives of the daughter-victim were obtained and clinical interviews conducted to draw out emerging themes of their experiences.

This research centered on the narratives of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) to know how they establish a value system while in the care of a rehabilitative facility. It looked into their rehabilitative process and how the prejudices as a CICL affect their perception on reformation. The prejudice on CICL viewed as victims of society is very common, as many people, view them only within the context of 'criminal' 'suspect' and 'perpetrator'. In different clinical interviews, the CICL themselves are aware of this perception about them as what they have heard from their community and experienced being detained in jails before admitted in the rehabilitative facility. So they accept the labels others give them--evil, a shame to the family, hopeless and worthless. When the CICL enter the rehabilitative facility, a shift of priority happens, focusing on center life and the dynamics of being a CICL-the need for self-protection and preservation.

This research focused on establishing the expanse of traumatic events brought alongside the typhoon Reming and how it is best coped with the girl children’s own views. Using an appropriate standardized psychological test and a child-friendly approach using expressive arts, their emotional quotient levels and coping strategies were assessed to establish trauma resiliency.
The concept of trauma resiliency as used in this study focused on the girl child’s capacity of merging internal and external resources to capacitate self towards recovery and reintegration in the community. Trauma resiliency is the girl children’s capacity to face stressful or challenging situations usually incorporated with natural disasters.
In the attempt to question the traditional standards that in times of disasters; resilience is expected and same interventions can be applied across sectors/gender, the trauma resilience of girl-child survivors was examined through expressive art works to establish the need for a gender specific psycho-educational program for girl children.
The results of the study emphasized the challenge that women empowerment must start when they are still girl children. The proposed program hopes to support women and girl-children advocacies especially in the promotion of their psycho-educational well-being.

Like aging, death is inevitable. The loss of a family member is significant to the aging siblings who are tasked with the responsibility of caring for the burial and other funeral services. While there had been studies on funeral services, no research had been conducted on interment services preferences. Hence, the overall purpose of this conjoint analysis study is to ascertain the interment preferences of a select group of aging Filipino siblings. A total of 165 aging Filipino siblings, from two highly-populated provinces in the fifth region of the Philippines, participated in the sorting and ranking of vignettes. Results of the conjoint technique showed the Type of Burial as the most important attribute (22.715%) and Burial Tribute as the least (6.818%). Part-worth of the attributes is: Residence (.158) for Place of Wake; 1 to 3 days (.241) for Length of Wake; Mourning (.536) for the Burial Rituals; Eulogy program (.091) for Burial Tribute; Traditional Burial (1.412) for Type of Burial; Pure White (1.092) for Processional Color Theme; and No obituaries (.161). Marked differences were noted in the female aging siblings giving more importance to the processional/final interment color theme and the obituaries. Also, housewives and the unemployed are inclined to wear pure black during the processional/final interment color theme in contrast to those employed in government agencies. Findings of this study will greatly help in offering not only financial ease but also emotional convenience to the bereaved.

This study investigated the awareness of respondents on the vulnerability of the communities on natural disasters in the province of Albay, the experiences of the community, means of public information, professional experts, and psychosocial services offered by different Local Government Units (LGUs). The study used nonprobability sampling to identify the person in authority in the provincial level. Data from the initial interview were used to pinpoint the participants from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) office, Rural Health Unit (RHU), and Office of the Mayor of the different LGUs for the Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Women empowerment contributes to the coastal economy and dispositions to household income. This descriptive study aimed to establish women's empowerment and their roles in the overall performance of selected fisheries-related livelihood in coastal towns of Milagros, Cawayan, Placer, and Esperanza, Masbate. It was participated by 81 women beneficiaries. A structured survey questionnaire was utilized to collect information on the sociodemographic profile and adequacy level of empowerment aligned to WEAI-5DE. It was backed up with FGDs and KIIs. The data were treated through descriptive analysis techniques using frequencies and percentages.
