I made this quilt for my husband's brother Tom and his new wife Margaret in 1988 as a wedding gift. It is from a collection of blue scraps in my collection, plus some new fabrics. I followed a pattern I found in Judy Martin's book Scrap Quilts. Many people still think that I am the Judy Martin who wrote all those wonderful quilt pattern books but I am not her. I would reccomend her books however, as they are excellent resources for traditional piecework patterns. number eighty two

Oh, it makes me so happy to see this quilt again! This modern twist on Storm at Sea is definitely one of my favourites I've made, so of course it's the first I thought of when another instalment of the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy's Creative Side opened. My quilt is still a top, as it took a lot longer to piece together than I had planned. I wasn't even sure I liked it until I took this photo. Sometimes it's hard to see how a quilt is coming out while you're working on it up close. Disclosure: The products used to make this project were generously provided by Island…

Sheri's quilt took longer than planned: I always forget how long it takes to do lots of SID and background quilting. (Picking out stitches added time too) Sheri spent a lot of time on it too, and said she put in plenty of time ripping out seams and resewing. Her top was nice and square and she took the time to serge the edge which I really appreciate. It turned out pretty, front and back.
