RESTAURANT WATCH - Strode Arms, Cranmore, Shepton Mallet

Strode Arms Cranmore and the village duck pond
New owners John and Nicky took over the Strode Arms in November 2012. A traditional, country pub /restaurant, 200 yards from the main A361 and located in the picturesque village of Cranmore, Shepton Mallet.....not far from East Somerset Railway.
Overlooking a picturesque duck pond in a quintessentially English setting, there is alfresco dining on the  front patio for warm weather. For now, sitting next to a roaring fire is the perfect ambiance for our unnaturally cold Spring.
John and Nicky have plans to make the Strode Arms a family friendly environment catering for children with swings and slides in the back garden. All Hallows School is only half mile away.
Home-cooked fresh food is top of their priority list. They source local produce and fish from Wing of St Mawes. The menu changes seasonally, currently they are serving delicious fresh mussels. The specials menu is changed daily with an extensive wine list and Prosecco by the glass which can only result in a fabulous place to dine.
John and Nicky also support local artists such as Jacky Spurrier's Cows on Canvas introducing a county-side charm to the pub and eating areas ...  also for sale! They are gradually making changes to the interior but want to retain a cosy and friendly feeling. There is also a large second restaurant for functions and seating up to 40 people, in the future they intend to refurbish the interior.
Finding a home from home place to eat and drink, knowing you are eating good quality, locally produced ingredients has make the Strode Arms worth putting on the map.
