La Roca shopping village

La Roca shopping Village is located in the tranquil Vallès Oriental region, in the outskirts of Barcelona...a good 45 min drive from the city.

The Village offers pedestrianised shopping experience in an open-air Village, where more than 150 boutiques sit along tree-lined streets. Each boutique shop is in a typical Mediterranean Spanish Architecture.

Here, boutiques from renowned Catalan, Spanish and international luxury brands, as well as emerging local talent – offering attractive discounts off the recommended retail price – sit alongside restaurants and cafés.

Plus, an array of guest services, including a multilingual Concierge, Personal Shoppers, Hands-free Shopping and La Roca Village from home, are there to make your visit extraordinary. Truly a unique shopping experience!

Casa Mila by Gaudí

My next discovery on further walking was Probably Gaudi's last private residence design - the Casa Mila also known as La Pedrera ( the stone quarry) . Built between 1906 to 1912, the building has its Gaudí stamp of an unconventional rough facade with twisted wrought iron balcony railings and a wavy terrace roof line. Its quite interesting that what was once the ridicule of the city is today the one that draws people from around the globe.

The Torron or Turron shop in the Casa Mila was quite inviting. The Spanish sales girls offered tasty samples at the shop front and made sure we bought some. Torrons are traditional Mediterranean nougat confectionery made from honey, sugar and egg white. They come in many types depending on the nuts and chocolate flavors.
