Have you ever considered that your doorway might be safer without a door? If you live in a house with kids, it is safer and better to have a doorway without a door. This is because doors with hinges are always heavy and more difficult to open for kids.

They’re great where you don’t want doors swinging into rooms or small spaces and getting in the way. The other way to hide an open door away is to create a recess (the thickness of the door) behind the door so it sits into the wall when open. I call this the ‘disappearing door’. You can’t have a handle on the door here, so use a roller or magnetic catch instead to keep the door shut.
