Sad but true that a country where language changes after every ten miles, where there 1652 mother tongues but uses 33 languages as the medium of academic instructions. Students comfortable in other languages than school languages feel disconnected the to the learning process and end up being cognitively impaired and it also triggered low self-confidence in their personality. This article will try to explore the multilingual nature of Indian classroom, the need of addressing students home language in classroom and how the language of teaching acts to 'dissociate' rather than connect the knowledge of the outside world from the local milieu of the child. I would examine how multilingualism should be used as a resource to bridge the gap between Home language and School Language. Arguments mentioned in this paper are only based on my observation of my SUP School.
