Using patent data, logistic modelling here suggests that topics in quantum computing technology (Quantum Gates, Quantum Information, and Quantum Dots ) have exponential growth. Moreover, entity linking method clarifies evolving interconnections in quantum computing topics over time that are categorized in emerging, declining, dominant, and saturated groups. The findings here have main implications of technological forecasting to support strategic management and innovation policy towards main industrial transformation.

The study focused on types of cancer having a high incidence and mortality worldwide: breast, lung, colorectal and prostate. Data of the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database are used to retrieve articles related to sensor technologies and cancer research over 1991-2021 period. We utilized Gephi software version 0.9.2 to visualize the co-word networks of the interaction between sensor technologies and cancers under study. Results show main clusters of interaction per typology of cancer. Biosensor is the only type of sensor that plays an essential role in all types of cancer: breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer. Electrochemical sensor is applied in all types of cancer under study except lung cancer. Electrochemical biosensor is used in breast cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cance...

This study develops an approach of computational scientometrics based on data of the Web of Science from 1991 to 2021 period. The results of this analysis show the vital role of biosensor and electrochemical biosensor applied in breast cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer research, except colorectal cancer for latter one. Instead, research of optical sensors is developing mainly in the directions of breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer for improving diagnostics. Finally, oxygen sensor research is developing for breast and lung cancer for applications in breath analysis in new treatment processes. Preliminary results presented here clearly illustrate the evolutionary paths of main sensor technologies that hav...

The goal of this study is to develop a scientometric analysis (using scientific documents and patents) to explain the evolution of sensor research and new sensor technologies that are critical to science and society. Results suggest that new directions in sensor research are driving technological trajectories of wireless sensor networks, biosensors and wearable sensors. These findings can help scholars to clarify new paths of technological change in sensors and policymakers to allocate research funds towards research fields and sensor technologies that have a high potential of growth for generating a positive societal impact.

This study confronts this question here by developing a bibliometric analysis, which endeavors to explain the evolution of sensor research and new technologies that are critical to science and society. The database of Scopus concerning scientific documents and patents is used for statistical and computational analyses in these topics. Results suggest that emerging technological trajectories in sensors are wireless sensor networks, wearable sensors and biosensors. Main characteristics of these growing research fields and technologies in sensors are described for fruitful implications of research and innovation policy directed to science advances and technological change in society.

One of the fundamental questions hardly known is how quantum computing research is developing to support scientific advances and the evolution of path-breaking technologies for economic, industrial, and social change. This study confronts the question here by applying methods of computational scientometrics for publication analyses to explain the structure and evolution of quantum computing research and technologies over a 30-year period. Results reveal that the evolution of quantum computing from 1990 to 2020 has a considerable average increase of connectivity in the network (growth of degree centrality measure), a moderate increase of the average influence of nodes on the flow between nodes (little growth of betweenness centrality measure), and a little reduction of the easiest access of each node to all other nodes (closeness centrality measure). This evolutionary dynamics is due to the increase in size and complexity of the network in quantum computing research over time. This study also suggests that the network of quantum computing has a transition from hardware to software research that supports accelerated evolution of technological pathways in quantum image processing, quantum machine learning, and quantum sensors. Theoretical implications of this study show the morphological evolution of the network in quantum computing from a symmetric to an asymmetric shape driven by new inter-related research fields and emerging technological trajectories. Findings here suggest best practices of innovation management based on R&D investments in new technological directions of quantum computing having a high potential for growth and impact in science and markets.

In fact, an important problem in the field of scientometrics is to explain factors determining the growth of citations in documents that can increase the diffusion of scientific results and the impact of science on society. The study here confronts this problem by developing a scientometric analysis to clarify, whenever possible, the relation between research funding and citations of articles in critical disciplines. Data of 2015 retrieved from the Web of Science database relating to the three critical disciplines given by computer science, medicine and economics are analyzed. Results suggest that computer science journals published more funded than unfunded papers. Medicine journals published equally funded and unfunded documents, and finally economics journals published more unfunded than funded papers. In addition, funded documents received more citations than unfunded papers in all three disciplines under study. The study also finds that citations in funded, unfunded and total (funded + unfunded) papers follow a power-law distribution in different disciplines. Another novel finding is that for all disciplines under study, the Matthew effect is greater for funded articles compared to unfunded documents. The results here can support best practices of research policy directed to fund vital scientific research for increasing the diffusion of science and scientific findings in society.

In this study, as a Scientometrics, 175 Iranian associated papers from 17 Iranian and international journals have been reviewed, which led to drawing and calculation of a number of metrics for the coauthorship network. These metrics include density, clustering coefficient, the community structure in co-authorship networks as the macro indicators, and degrees as well as betweenness centrality index as the micro indicators. The results show that researchers in this area mostly tend to work in small groups and relationship between them are weak. Furthermore, the network can be considered as a scale-free network.
