One of my favorite hobbies

My first 2 scrapbook pages in over 2 years.  Staying with the KISS method for now, as I'm out of practice and the books are getting rather bulky.

Chocolate Scotcheroos

Chocolate Scotcheroos

1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies (or Cocoa Krispies)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup butterscotch chips

Place corn syrup and sugar into 3-quart saucepan.  Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to boil.  Remove from heat.  Stir in peanut butter.  Mix well.  Add rice krispies.  Stir until well coated.  Press mixture into 13x9x2 inch pan coated with cooking spray.  Set aside.

Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together in 1 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.  Spread evenly over cereal mixture.  Let stand until firm.  Cut into 2 x 1 inch bars when cool.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer....

I couldn't wait to play with this file as soon as Kimm finished it!  It took a while for me to find the time, but finally, here it is!  This is the "Watch Out Grandma" file from Beary Sweet Designs.  Isn't it awesome??  I originally thought to do a card for my Mom, who loves the song.  I'd have really had to shrink the pieces, though, and thought it would look much better as a framed layout.  I had the perfect background paper for it in my stash.  I framed it in a white 12x12 frame, but remembered to take a pic before, so I didn't have the reflection and glare showing up.

Gramma Sandi's gift

This is the one for my Mother-in-law.  Again, the elements came from a bunch of files.  See "Grandpa's gift" for the sources.  The one differences here is that I used "Precious" instead of "beautiful" from the Bearyful Sayings file and I mirrored the  arrangement just to change it up.  Still have to do one for me and for my Mom.

Grandpa's present

I made this layout and framed it for my Father-in-law.  I used lots of different files.  The frames and the interlocking hearts are from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, the heart frame is the lollipop from the Fuzzy Kisses and Chocolate wishes file from Treasure Box Designs.  The "beautiful" is from Bearyful Sayings from Scraptastical Kreations.  "Enchanting" came from the Fairy Enchanting file from Beary Sweet Designs.  No one file would do the trick, but mixing and matching sure did!

Hippo card

A special ornament had to have a special card.  This is one of the other hippos in the set "A Hippo for Christmas" from Beary Sweet Designs.  Kimm does awesome work!  I love playing with her files!  I'd made this guy and wasn't sure what to do with him.  He's just over 6 inches tall and a bit large for a layout.  Perfect for a card for Aly, though.  And had to be an easel card to really show him off!

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas...

"I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" is a favorite at our house.  My friend Kimm was kind enough to make a paper piecing pattern for it.  You can find it at Beary Sweet Designs, along with lots of other cool patterns.  I had to make a special ornament for Aly, as we'd been singing the song a lot!

Watch out Grandma!

The Watch out Grandma file from Beary Sweet Designs is just too much fun!  Was going to do a card for my mom, but would have to make it really small to fit it all in.  I'm not keen on working with really small pieces, so I left it the normal size.  as you can see, it is really going to be a challenge to fit it onto a 12x12 layout!  I want to do one and frame it for my mom, who's always loved the song.  All the pieces are done, now to get to the layout.  Prob. after Christmas, since I won't see her until the 30th and have too many other projects to do before Christmas.

Kimm's card

Kimm likes pink, can you tell?  While we live not too far apart, we don't get to coordinate schedules to get together often.  Again, the bears are made with the Baby Tear Bear pattern from The Beary Scrap.  I'm so glad she liked the card!  They were a challenge to make, but a lot of fun too!

Christmas card #1

Now that my cards have been delivered, I can share them with you.  I'd done easel cards, and twisted easel cards, and had seen double twisted easel cards, but we are a group of 3 good friends.  I found this triple easel card and had to try it.  This one I made for my friend, Patricia.  I saw the sentiment in a catalog, and it just fit 2 of my best friends, who I don't see nearly enough.  The bears were made with the Baby Tear Bear Acrylic pattern from The Beary Scrap.
