Multiple preclinical studies, performed using either a gene deletion or a gene silencing approaches, have shown this receptor being a major driver target of fibrosis and glomerulosclerosis. The present study investigated the role and relevance of DDR1 in human crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN). Detailed DDR1 expression was first characterized in detail in human GN biopsies using a novel selective anti-DDR1 antibody using immunohistochemistry. Subsequently the protective role of DDR1 was investigated using a highly selective, novel, small molecule inhibitor in a nephrotoxic serum (NTS) GN model in a prophylactic regime and in the NEP25 GN mouse model using a therapeutic intervention regime. DDR1 expression was shown to be mainly limited to renal epithelium. In humans, DDR1 is highly induced in injured podocytes, in bridg...

The tracking problem is interested in rearranging the location of VSM (e.g., items, pallets and stations) in a grouping of cellular aspect using 5'S concepts, which increase performance level. One of the successful recommendations used in this context is traveler salesman technique but with periodically update (i.e., Dynamic Gemba), it may be need reformulation. Its importance is the capture of work, information, and material (WIP, setup time, process time/unit, error rates, idle time, etc.) which is essential in quantifying and determining waste in terms of cost, delivery time and transportation frequency. This paper is interest in review the dynamic Gemba model to improve the inventory handling via modifying the traveler salesman model with aided proposed heuristic procedures, which are interested in arrange the inventory in minimum time and maximum flexibility in preparing the different orders. The Gemba tasks displayed via (Gemba KPI/DOE board) which contain cost and time information (NNVA: preparing tasks, VA: traveling||tracking tasks and NNVA: unloading tasks). The optimized cost and time analysis after reducing NNVA time and total VA time were sent to the central heijunka matrix. The methodology which includes elimination movements, motion and extra actions wastes are lean, and aim to increase the ability of prepare a lot of service in minimum time.

However, this is a different situation for 3-Dimensional laser forming. To advance this process further for realistic forming applications and for straightening and aligning operations in a manufacturing industry it is necessary to consider larger scale controlled 3D laser forming. The work presented in this paper uses a predictive and adaptive approach to control the laser forming of mild steel and aluminium sheet into a desired surface. Key to the control of the process was the development of a predictive model, detailed in the paper, to give scan strategies based on a required geometry and the surface error. The forming rate and distribution of the magnitude of forming across the surface were controlled in the closed loop by the process speed. When the geometry is not formed within one pass, an incremental adaptive approach is used for subsequent passes, utilising the error between the current and desired geometry to give a new scan strategy, thus any unwanted distortion due to material variability can be accounted for and distortion control and removal is possible.

The main objective of this study is to assess the microbiological quality of swimming pools water in Gaza Strip to assure its health safety for swimmers. Sampling and analysis were conducted by the Ministry of Health over a period of about four years (2010-2013). Samples were collected from seven central swimming pools in Gaza Strip periodically and examined for Total Coliforms and Faecal Coliforms. In addition, Staphylococcus aureus, Faecal Streptococcus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from the swimming pools samples with different percentages. Percentages of microbial contamination, concentration of free chlorine and pH level were examined in the studied swimming pools and compared with the international standards and the annual trends were demonstrated. The results show that, about 75% of the recorded data regarding pH level are unacceptable, while 100% of the recorded data about the concentration of free chlorine within the swimming pools are unacceptable. About 57% of the collected samples were contaminated by Total Coliforms, 39% were contaminated by Faecal Coliforms, 46% were contaminated by Staphylococcus aureus, 21% were contaminated by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 18% were contaminated by Faecal streptococci. The annual trends show increase in percentage of contamination to be the worst during the year 2013. Therefore, proper intensive surveillance and water chlorination is needed periodically.
Expression of several of the surface antigens on normal and malignant hematopoietic cells is redu... more Expression of several of the surface antigens on normal and malignant hematopoietic cells is reduced or is modulated by incubation with specific antibodies. Although antigenic modulation provides a means by which cells can escape antibody-mediated immune destruction, the physiologic significance and frequency of this phenomenon are both poorly understood. To begin to address these issues, we identified and characterized surface antigens on the malignant B cell line Laz 221 established from a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Indirect immunofluorescence analysis with the use of 26 hematopoietic cell populations and immune precipitation studies with the use of iodinated ALL cells indicate that 163 monoclonal antibodies (MoAb) identify 22 different proteins on this cell line, including at least six previously described surface molecules. Seven of these antigens are expressed by all nucleated cells examined, whereas only the mu chain of immunoglobulin is B cell specific. Incubation of specific MoAb with cultures of Laz 221 cells at 37 degrees C reduces or modulates surface expression of five of these 22 antigens (p45, immunoglobulin mu chain, transferrin receptor, common ALL antigen (CD10), and p105). Studies that made use of multiple MoAb specific for the same antigen suggest that the capacity for antigenic modulation is an intrinsic property of individual antigens. These studies also suggest that the murine immune response to shared human antigens varies from one immunizing cell population to another. For example, three of the antigens present on Laz 221 cells were only identified by MoAb raised to the Burkitt's cell line Ramos and vice-versa. Only one of these six shared antigens is present in greater amounts on the immunogenic cell population. Immunogenicity of individual human antigens in the mouse may be a function of their cell surface environment.

In a prospective study, 24 female patients were randomly allocated to receive either SHN or HD. Patients were evaluated by recording the O'Leary-Sant IC symptom indices, IC problem indices, pain visual analog scale (VAS), number of daytime frequency, and nocturia. Pressure flow study was conducted for all patients. Intraoperative and postoperative changes and adverse events were recorded. Basal IC symptom indices, IC problem indices, and VAS scores were comparable between both groups (P = .31, .63, and .94, respectively). There was no statistically significant difference between both groups with respect to urodynamic parameters. Only pain VAS at first week was improved in SHN in comparison with HD (P = .012). Thereafter, all parameters were significantly improved in favor of the HD group at 2- and 4-week visits. Adverse events in both groups were ranked as Grade 1 Clavien-Dindo classification including transient hematuria in the HD group and transient back ache in the SHN group. Despite effective pain control in cases with IC-BPS after SHN, it lacks durability. It seems that SHN in its current form is not to be a suitable line of treatment for IC-BPS. Multimodality treatment would be needed for proper control of patients' symptoms.
