Quite frankly I've had enough. Prince Philip is not the only one to get taken down during the Jubilee celebrations by the howling gales. I went to Dorset for the long weekend, to take the sea air, celebrate my Goddaughter's 7th birthday and eat red, white and blue cake. Having enjoyed rude health for the whole winter, before, after and during Christmas..... for which I am traditionally cold-stuffed-and-coughing........ I now have a monumental cold that has resulted in bed rest.....in June. And so I am going to get away from it all for a short foreign break....... where at least the rain has an accent.
I leave you with a picture of what summer can look like.........Top tip: Ginger Beer is much better than Barley Water or Lucozade as a sick-bed tipple.
I'm sorry to hear the weather has got to you. I too can't remember any June as bad as this. Hope you see lots of sun on holiday!
ReplyDeleteHope you get better soon.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the phrase sick-bed tipple. You English, you're quite charming.
You poor dear. Get better soon. I would recommend hot toddys with extra honey.
ReplyDeletefinding some recuperational sun sounds like a very good idea... hope it does the trick..... maybe you'll come back with a mediterranean amour or three ;) xx
ReplyDeleteCommiserations and wishing you a speedy recover and hope that you find the sun.
ReplyDeleteGinger beer is great and also helps when you have had too much food and wine !!!! XXXX
Hello:
ReplyDeleteOh, get well soon. A summer cold is so very miserable and all we hear about is the ghastly weather in England.
Yes, take flight. We are basking in temperatures of 30C, so 'sur le continent' is where you need to be.We always swear by red wine when ill.......it does not particularly help with the symptoms but it makes one lose the will to care.
Take care!!
I swear by red wine when not ill........ in fact, a lot of the time I just swear.......
ReplyDeleteGet well soon and enjoy soaking up some sunshine
Weve just had a weeks camping in Cornwall - but managed to avoid the worst of the weather thankfully. I hate summer colds - hope you enjoy some sun wherever you go. xxxx
ReplyDeleteBoo, sorry you're unwell. Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeletePenny Dreadful Vintage
Take care...and happy ginger beer imbibing.
ReplyDelete"Sick bed tipple"--I like the sound of that. Have fun on your foreign break!
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, enjoy your sun drenched break away from rain sodden Blighty.
ReplyDeleteHope the foreign break sorts your dreaded summer cold out! x
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday!
ReplyDeleteI developed the strongest desire for Ribena of all things when I was down for three weeks in February. I've never been so glad to have a fridge with and ice machine.
The lovely thing about Europe is that you can go a few miles and drop into a different world. We go a few miles, and well, we've just gone a few miles.
ReplyDeleteHere in Seattle, we call it Junuary, because it's effing cold and rainy. However today, glorious sun and blue sky and I'm taking my menopausal self to the mountains with the dog.
ReplyDeleteI like lemonade when I'm poorly. Get well soon & enjoy your trip.
ReplyDeleteMy only comment must be that if you wish to stay healthy, keep away from small children. They carry and swap germs, like postage stamps or Dinky toys. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteHope you're recovered by now. Where did you escape to? X
