Spirit Gems are Items in Phantom Hourglass.[1]

Location and Uses

Spirit Gems are collectible Items of which there are three types: red Power Gems, blue Wisdom Gems, and green Courage Gems. They resemble orbs bearing the crests of the respective Golden Goddesses, inside translucent, teardrop-shaped casings. Many can be found in hidden Treasure Chests, while others are obtained by means such as purchasing them at Shops, winning them from Mini-Games, or receiving them as rewards from other characters, both in-person and through the mail. There are 20 of each type of Spirit Gem to collect over the expanse of the World of the Ocean King.

In order for the Spirit Gems to have any effect, they must first be taken to the Shrine at Spirit Island, where the servant to the goddess of Spirits uses them to restore the true powers to Link's companion Spirits.[2] When Link presents ten of a certain Spirit Gem type, the corresponding Spirit will be upgraded to "Level 1" as shown in the Collection Menu, and when that Spirit is equipped, he sees an ability enhancement on the part of his Sword or in his physical skill set.[1][3] Upon collecting and presenting all 20 of a type of Spirit Gem, that Spirit is upgraded to "Level 2" with the full extent of its power.[4]
