Secret Stone
The Secret Stones,[1] also known as Shining Stones,[2] are Objects in Tears of the Kingdom.
Location and Uses
Secret Stones are tear-shaped magical Zonai artifacts that can amplify a wielder's innate powers. The Zonai were given the Secret Stones by Deities.[3] They are given to the Six Sages by Rauru, the King of Hyrule. According to the Zonai Sage of Spirit Mineru, a wielder is able to transform into an immortal Dragon by swallowing one but will lose their sense of self by doing so.
Seeking to conquer the newly-established Hyrule Kingdom, Ganondorf kills Queen Sonia and steals her Secret Stone. He then uses its power to amplify his own, transforming himself into the Demon King Ganondorf. In order to stop Ganondorf, Rauru gives the remaining Secret Stones to the Six Sages. However, their combined power is not enough to stop the Demon King and Rauru is forced to sacrifice himself to seal Ganondorf away.
After Rauru sacrifices himself, Zelda devises a plan to restore and further strengthen the Master Sword. By swallowing her Secret Stone while holding the Decayed Master Sword, Zelda transforms in to the Light Dragon to live on through the millennia at the cost of her sense of identity. In doing so, she is able to impart her sacred power into the Sword that Seals the Darkness until Link can find her and retrieve it in the distant future.
After Link defeats Demon King Ganondorf, Ganondorf swallows the Secret Stone that he stole from Sonia and transforms into the Demon Dragon to do battle with Link through the Skies of Hyrule. The Demon Dragon's Secret Stone is ultimately destroyed in the conflict, leading to the destruction of Ganondorf as well.
Trivia
- The symbols on the Secret Stones are designed to resemble the seal script characters for their respective elements.
- Secret Stones resemble the Amber Relics and Dusk Relics from Skyward Sword. All three are based on Magatama, ornamental and ceremonial beads created in ancient Japan.
