"Runaway Horse" is a Side Quest in Echoes of Wisdom.[1]

Overview

When Princess Zelda arrives at Hyrule Ranch for the first time, she finds that the workers are worried about a Horse that has gone missing.[2][3][4] If she speaks to the elderly Hylian man, he welcomes her, but he reveals that they are not currently loaning out Horses to riders.[5] This is because everyone is distraught about the Horse that ran away.[6] He explains that the Horse typically runs out west, though she usually comes back on her own.[7] No one has been able to find her, so he asks Zelda to bring her back if she sees the Horse.[8] Following this conversation, "Runaway Horse" will begin.

Zelda can find the missing Horse on a outcropping surrounded by a moat west of Hyrule Ranch. By summoning Echoes of Objects, Zelda can create a path for the Horse to leave. She can then ride the Horse to guide it back to the Ranch. When Zelda brings the Horse to the old man, he is shocked to see her and thanks Zelda.[9] When Zelda explains where the Horse was, the man offers to lend her the Ranch's Horses free of charge.[10] He then encourages her to choose a Horse.[11] Afterwards, "Runaway Horse" will be completed.

Once both "Runaway Horse" and the Main Quest "Still Missing" have both been finished, the Side Quest "Impa's Gift" will become available.
