Motivation
When Wikimdia Taiwan offered a story from Li Mei-shu's edit-a-thon, that story said that the standard does not appear in the property of Wikidata. Therefore, I propose this property to mark the oil paintings. Taiwania Justo (talk) 03:55, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
Discussion
WikiProject sum of all paintings has more than 50 participants and couldn't be pinged. Please post on the WikiProject's talk page instead. Taiwania Justo (talk) 06:16, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

- Support we should probably note that while "French" is in the name, it is a widely-used size standard for all paintings on canvas, no matter the country of origin. ArthurPSmith (talk) 21:27, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Taiwania Justo: The allowed values and example given above do not match those in the Wikipedia article suggested as a source; can we have some clarity please? If there are a reasonable, finite number of forms, the datatype should be "item". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:30, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: Roger that. I changed to the "item" first. If any evidence about the "string" form of the property is appeared, we can change it back. Taiwania Justo (talk) 00:56, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- The source has given on the information above. Taiwania Justo (talk) 01:07, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

- Comment If you make items for these, couldn't you link them with aspect ratio (W:H) (P2061) from paintings? On the items, the string should be available in a format other than the label. Maybe this property with string format could be used there.
--- Jura 17:39, 14 April 2018 (UTC) - Comment Item datatype allows you to specify the dimensions on the target item, so that seems useful. Obviously aspect ratio (W:H) (P2061), while related, is quite different (and most of these various sizes have very close to one or two standard aspect ratios anyway). ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:49, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- So where would the string "M40" go?
--- Jura 18:41, 17 April 2018 (UTC)- What's wrong with the label? We don't do anything special for other categorization items like endangered species (Q11394) right? Or a little closer to this one, A4 (Q280184) - that has no string property set to A4. ArthurPSmith (talk) 20:39, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
