Names used in family name (P734)

[edit]

Frequency of uses of names as family name (P734)-values in Wikidata.

Description of output:

  • family names (with property P3370) in range "0" are not used as values of P734, accordingly number of "persons" equals 0.
  • family names in range "1" are used just once as values of P734, accordingly number of "persons" is equal to the number of "names",
  • range "10000+" just has just a few family names, but these are used that many times that the number of "persons" is comparable to the number of persons in range "1",

Distinct value constraint

[edit]

Maybe the constraint needs to be dropped if the site uses just caps. --- Jura 13:42, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think so. --- Caméléon Diaphane (talk) 08:39, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, possibly. (Or it could be downgraded to a mere suggestion.) Thierry Caro (talk) 11:12, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
When would the suggestion be appropriate? --- Jura 11:59, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jura1: Your complex constraint is interesting. If we drop the distinct-values constraint (Q21502410), I'll add Géopatronyme ID (P3370) to these items. But where should we stop? If Léger (Q19758314) or Rivière (Q21431205) seams legitimate, what about Ateş (Q754585), Marås (Q30772082) or Løw (Q34190223)? Should we accept all the diacritics of Latin alphabet?
On the other hand, if we don't drop distinct-values constraint (Q21502410), how to deal with Q65101211, Q94143751, Q105770873 (De La Rue, de la Rue, de La Rue) or Q21507349, Q69870649, Q69871728 (van de Velde, Van de Velde, Van De Velde)? --- Caméléon Diaphane (talk) 11:13, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Caméléon Diaphane:: I removed the constraint in the meantime. It really depends on normalization as done by Géopatronyme (Q3123540) whether one spelling should be included or not. You probably know more about the website than everybody else. The complex constraint can be refined if it leads to too many false positives. --- Jura 11:21, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

All URLs return 404 not found; domain redirected to filae.com

Perhaps I'm not using it right, or the whole service is just dead. Itorokelebogile (talk) 12:42, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The pages are there, but they added a .html at the end of the URL at Filae. --Rosenzweig (talk) 17:47, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Directory name change at Filae

[edit]

Hello Jura, Caméléon Diaphane, Thierry Caro and Tubezlob
Unless I am mistaken, I would like to point out a change at Filae of "nomcarte" (link) → "nom-de-famille" (link)
Currently contributing to academia, I sometimes create family name elements. The last item created was on september 4, 2024.
Not having the practice of the uses, if, it was possible among you to modify the change to make the link of the lexeme functional again
A big sincere thank you in advance. —— DePlusJean (talk) 04:50, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
