I was born in the year of the Water OX. I am currently doing a degree in Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. My major is in History and my Minor is in English. My desire is to teach Australian history and culture. After I graduate, I would love to teach in New Zealand for a year and take students overseas to see places that they study in history at school.
I want to write books. I love books and libraries. I want to build and maintain a web site that encourages people to read and write.
I have worked in a few different jobs from First Responder to teachers aid: I have worked as a pizza delivery driver, bartender, nursing aid, bus driver, swimming coach, library assistant, in a travel agency, driving a taxi, in call centers and in commercial kitchens.
I have certificates in IT and management.
I have an Advanced Diploma from James Cook University where I studied Epidemiology and population health dynamics, demographics and sociology.
I do volunteer work with Red Cross and as a JP (Justice of the peace)... and have done volunteer work with a wide variety of organizations include St John Ambulance. I have done a variety of volunteer jobs including as a tutor to people who want to improve their literacy skills and in transporting people to medical appointments. In the “Year of the Volunteer” I did over 500 hours as a volunteer First Responder with St John Ambulance. In 2011 I accidently ended up in Christchurch during the aftermath of the major Earthquake in February as a tourist. When I got back home, I immediately joined Red Cross. In the following mounts I spent a lot of time doing volunteer work in the Bundaberg area helping with their flooding. I even worked in logistics and enjoyed that work.
I have travelled widely through Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe. I have lived in PNG and in many places around Queensland, Australia. I would love to drive around Australia and travel by train in New Zealand, Canada, China, Japan, South Africa, Scandinavia and across Russia. I would love to travel by boat in England, Europe, down the Nile, around the Mediterranean Sea, to the Southern Ocean and to travel by boat around the world including traveling through the Panama Canal. I love flying and would love to get a license to fly.
I currently live in a granny flat on my Mums property with one and a half cats (Albert sleeps with me and Bugatti sleeps with my mum). Albert is about 5 and is a grey fluffy desexed male, Bugatti is almost 11 and is a short haired ginger desexed tom, both cats are "rescue" cats.
To relax I love swimming, especially in thermal waters in New Zealand. I would love to swim in thermal waters in Canada, Japan, and Iceland. When I was much younger, I often would go out and swim out at the great barrier reef and was a "free diver". I would love to learn to become a scuba diver.
I love listening to music and audiobooks, watch documentaries, read a variety of genres and cooking... especially deserts. I prefer a vegetarian diet and hate apples, mint and pork. I am allergic to tree nuts (especially Almonds) and oats. I love coffee and dark chocolate, raspberries and pine nuts. I enjoy learning about herbs, wine, spirits and cheese; and enjoy (but a bit scared of) making my own pickles and preserves. I hate most reality TV shows but love cooking shows... and would love to participate in one - but only so that I can learn new cooking techniques and play with amazing equipment and ingredients.
It is my dream to design and then build an environmentally friendly, disable compatible, multi-generational apartment complex so I can put my mum in a "penthouse"... It would be amazing if I could then show off the design on a TV show like "Grand Designs".
I love (but have no skill in) gardening and would love to in the future learn to bushwalk, take photographs, and make pottery. I love making jewellery … but don’t wear any.
The clothing accessory I do wear a lot are scarves.
I have chronic pain from three significant upper spinal injuries (I am 5cm shorter from crush fractures) and a permanent chronic migraine. I also have chronic pain from a variety of broken bones… and have had a toe amputated and reattached because of a crush injury.view less
