INTRODUCTION

 Women entrepreneurship is the


process in which women initiate a
business, gather all resources,
undertake risks, face challenges,
provides employment to others and
manages the business
independently.
What is Women
Entrepreneur?
 Women entrepreneur may
be defined as a woman or
group of women who initiate,
organize, and run a business
enterprise.
DEFINITION
 “An enterprise owned and controlled by woman having a
minimum financial interest of 51% of the capital and giving at
least 51% employment generated to women”

 “Women who innovate initiate or adopt business actively are


called women entrepreneurs.”

 “Women entrepreneurship is based on women participation


in equity and employment of a business enterprise.”

CONCEPT
 The process of developing a new thing
with a certain value, applying the
required time and effort and assuming the
risk and reward, is known as
Entrepreneurship.
 The people who undertake these
activities are called entrepreneurs.
 They collect the resources comprising
of finance, innovation and business
intelligence in order to transform business
ideas into actual products or services.

Government Schemes For Women
Entrepreneurs In India
1. The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) :-
 NITI Aayog has launched a Women Entrepreneurship
Platform (WEP) for providing an ecosystem for budding 8
existing women entrepreneurs across the country.
 SIDBI has partnered with NITI Aayog to assist in this
initiative.
 As an enabling platform, WEP is built on three pillars-
• lccha Shakti,
• Gyaan Shakti &
• Karma Shakt

2. Mudra Loan for Women
 Mudra Loan for Women was launched by the government to
offer financial support for enthusiastic women entrepreneurs.
 They seek a business plan like starting a beauty parlour,
tuition centre, stitching shop, etc.
 This scheme does not require any collateral to grant the loan.
They are as follows:
 Shishu Loan: The maximum loan amount granted to
businesses in the initial stage is Rs. 50,000.
 Kishor Loan: This loan is for businesses that are already
established but wish to improve services. The amount of
loan granted varies from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 5 Lakhs.

 Tarun Loan: This loan is for well-established businesses
planning to expand their reach and is short on capital; they
can avail as much as Rs. 10 Lakhs for the purpose.

3. Annapurna Scheme
The Annapurna Yojana, the Government of India offers
women entrepreneurs scheme in food catering businesses
loans up to Rs. 50,000.
The borrowed amount could be used for working capital
requirements such as buying utensils, mixer cum grinder, hot
case, tiffin boxes, working table, etc.

4. Udyogini Scheme
The Women Development Corporation has implemented
the Udyogini Scheme under the Government of India.
This scheme promotes and motivates women's
entrepreneurship among the poor by providing financial
support to women.
This scheme majorly supports and helps illiterate women
living in rural and backward areas.

 The rise in the female economy, it is important for companies
to build a solid foundation for high-potential women-led or
women-focused startups in India by offering them a combination
of capital, acceleration, mentorship, customer and market access.
 Indian women continue to dominate the workforce with their
immense potential and lead the start-up ecosystem with 15.7
million women-owned enterprises, they are expected to shape
and enhance the future of the country by adding over 30 million
more women-owned businesses which will provide
approximately 150-170 million jobs by 2030.
