Types of Leave:
• Casual Leave: 8 days
• Vacation Leave: 60 days per calendar year
• Half Pay Leave: 10 days for half-year, credited in advance on 1st January and 1st July
every year
• Special Casual Leave: 15 days per calendar year
• Project Leave: 15 days per calendar year
• On-duty Leave Earned Leave:
▶ EL: 30 days for entire vacation
▶ EL: 30(1 − No. of days of vacation availed/60)

Maternity Leave:
(i) Pregnancy: 180 days, admissible to woman employee with less than two surviving
children.
(ii) Miscarriage/abortion: 45 days in the entire service, irrespective of number of
surviving children. Application should be supported by a medical certificate from
authorized medical attendant.

Paternity Leave: 15 days in one spell may be given to male employee with less than two
surviving children. i.e. 15 days before or up to six months after the date of delivery of
the child and 15 days from the date of valid adoption.

Child Care Leave (CCL): 730 days (maximum of two years) for their entire service for
taking care of up to two eldest surviving children. Child below the age of 18 years. CCL
shall not be granted for more than three spells in a calendar year.

LTC Types:
• LTC to home town
• LTC to any place in India
Encashment of EL: Limited to 10 days of earned leave on one occasion and 60
days in the entire career

Leave Travel Concession (LTC)

LTC to home town:


• Admissible to all employees of the Institute irrespective of the distance
involved.
• Home town once declared is treated as final. In exceptional circumstances,
the Director may authorize a change, only once during entire service.
• Admissible once in a block of two calendar years. For example 2024-2025.
• An employee (including unmarried) having his family at his home town can
avail of LTC for himself alone every year instead of having it for both self and
family once in two years.

Leave Travel Concession (LTC)

LTC to any place in India:


• This concession is admissible in lieu of one of the two journeys to home
town in a block of four years.
• Available for travel to any place in India - including employee’s home town.
• Officials availing LTC to home town for self alone once every year, are not
entitled to LTC to anywhere in India.
• The intended place of visit should be declared by the Institute employee to
the Institute in advance.
• New joinees are allowed to travel to their home town along with their
families on 3 occasions in a block of 4 years and to any place in India on the
4th occasion, for first 2 blocks of 4 years after joining the Institute first time.
• On completion of 8 years they will be treated as par with other regular
employees.

• Block period: 3 years
• Grant allocation: | 3 Lakhs per block period
• Faculty joins or retires in between a block period, the grant allocation will
be based on pro-rata basis
• Unutilized PDA of one block period can be carried forward to the next block
period
Contingency expenses: Up to a maximum of | 1.5 Lakhs
National/International conference: | 3 Lakhs − contingency expenses
Conferences
• ***National/International conference travel support/Field trips/Visits for
data collection
• Registration fee for Short-term courses/Conference/Workshop/Tutorial
***Travel support for attending National/lnternational conferences is admissible to a coauthor (a
faculty or student of IIT Roorkee) - Field trips/Visits for data collection will also be admissible for
the students supervised by the faculty.

• *Academic/research books/e-books
• Membership of professional societies
• Software/Cloud storage/Computer peripherals/Laboratory
consumables/Laboratory usage charges
• **Publication charges/Journal over-length page charges/Journal subscription
charges/Purchase of journal article

*Books/e-books costing less than | 10,000 can be retained by faculty. Books/e-books


costing | 10,000 and above will need to be entered in MGCL collection. However, they
can be retained at 5% purchase value.

**Only for the high-quality research publications. Quality will be decided on considering
the ranking (Q1/Q2 in Web of Science) or impact factor (Thomson Reuters) of the
journal, journals of reputed professional societies AICHE, ASME, ASCE, IEEE or a ranking
of the journals accepted widely by the peer group.

International Travel

PDA can be utilized for the following:


• International air travel (economy class - boarding passes are need to be submitted),
taxi charges, visa fees, and airport tax. No restriction for traveling by AIR INDIA only,
however the tickets must be purchased from one of the three authorized travel
agents , namely: (a) M/s Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited (BLCL), (b) M/s Ashok
Travels & Tours (ATT), (c) Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd.
(IRCTC).
• Registration fee
• Boarding and lodging for the period of the conference plus two days (one day prior
and one day after the conference)
• Local travel at the place of conference (original receipts are required for
reimbursement)
• Expenses for one workshop or tutorial up to two days associated with the
conference
• Medical insurance associated with international travel.

Assistant Professor - New joinee


• Fellowship - | 30,000 per month for a period of three years
• Financial support - upto | 2 Lakhs for procuring laptop, printer, etc for setting-up the
office
• Faculty initiation grant - upto | 20 Lakhs upon submission of research proposal
which is managed by SRIC office.
