Give an example. Five questions each worth 1 mark Important: Context given in instructions. Advice: Keep changing intructions so students get used to read the instructions every time. Also check why the wrong answers are not right.

Read around the gap. What might be said in the gap?

PART IV

Two parts:

PART V

Test ability to choose appropriate grammatical options for gaps in a short text Three option multiple choice. All same parts of speech.

KET WRITING
Personal messages or about personal informatio. Examples of tasks: 1- Write a postcard to a friend 2- Write a note to a friend talking about your new house

Advice: Use spelling lists Expose students to a variety of English


It is very important that students write NO LESS than the words that are required. Punctuation is key. To practice it, give students a paper with no punctuation. Emphasize on handwriting (so students improve it to make it understandable)

LISTENING

30 min. (Including 8 minutes transfer time)

Listening types: Informal, dialogue Monologue


Important: Language purposes, language functions, communicative tasks. Code switching: Adapt the discourse according to how informal /familiar the context is.

SPEAKING SKILLS

Two parts

Students need to know the format of the test. You can ask the examiner for clarification. 8-10 min. Assesor - interlocutor P1 Examiner candidate P2 Candidate-Candidate Assesor: Grammar vocabulary Pronunciation, interactive communication Interlocutor: Globar achievement.

PART II FORMAT
Candidates interact together One prompt card each: information card All answers must be on question card.

PET Material for both tests is availabe online in the Cambridge website. Overview Part 1 texts. Candidates read notes, postcards. Part 2 texts Short texts of entertainment listings Books, museums, films, websites,etc. Part 3 Larger texts. Travel itineraries, tourist brochures. Clear paragraph structure.

Part 5 reading skills Understand the meaning of an incomplete sentence by using lexical and grammatical clues.

Pet writing: Write on essay out of two choices. Lexical chunks, opposites, expressing permission, possession, parts of speech.

DICTOGLOSS
It is classroom dictation activity where learners are required to reconstruct a short text by listening and noting down key words, which are then used as a base for reconstruction. Discuss a topic The teacher explains the task and reads a short text on the sea for instance. The teacher reads the text again and learners take notes. In groups, the learners then reconstruct the text. You grade the content of the text. Multitask activity

Create a check list for every exercise to reduce the marking The dictogloss can have different focus.

Pet writing Include ALL content points. Write the number of words required. Question specific (in check list) Requires knowledge of functional language Candidates should show ambition. Encourage them to try to leave their comfort zone.
