WHAT IS A COBOT?

• A collaborative robot, also known as a cobot, is an industrial robot that can

safely operate alongside humans in a shared workspace.
DIFFERENT TOOLS FOR
COLLABORATIVE ROBOTS
COBOT VISION SYSTEM
Vision systems provide the collaborative robot with visibility. With 3D or 2D cameras,
cobots can locate objects, recognize patterns, and scan barcodes.
END OF ARM TOOLING (EOAT)

• End of Arm Tooling is a combined word for all types of tools that
can be mounted to a collaborative robot. For example sanders,
screw machines, sensors, tools, changers, glue dispensers,
welding, and soldering tools.
EOAT GLUE DISPENSERS

• A dispenser is utilized to mount a glue or

sealant syringe on the end of the cobots. This
enables a collaborative robot to move in the
desired pathway and distribute glue or sealant
very evenly and precisely.
EOAT SCREWING MACHINES

• A collaborative robot, together with a screwing machine, can

simply keep up this job for long durations of time and is also
very accurate.
EOAT SANDERS

• With a sander at the robot’s end, a

collaborative robot can sand, polish surfaces.
The built-in sensors ensure that the cobots
will continuously do this with the exact same
force, which guarantees consistent quality.
COBOT SENSOR'S

• Collaborative robots have built-in sensors

by design to make the cobots
collaborative and sensitive. But
sometimes there may be extra sensors
because a job needs higher sensitivity. An
external force torque sensor is available
for this task.
MAIN WORKING OF COBOT
• Cobot's are equipped with software-controlled sensors that enable them to
detect objects, people and potential collisions The simplest possible
cobot is a unicycle which is steered by a servo system
acting under computer control, but which is moved by a
human operator. The software monitors every movement of a cobot
and immediately shuts it down if it detects something unexpected. The
majority of industrial cobots are power and force limitation (PFL) cobots,
which means that in the case of an unexpected collision, their built-in sensors
can identify when abnormal force is applied, causing the cobot to either slow
down or cease operating to prevent accidents and injuries. Usually, the
edges of these cobots are rounded to mitigate any potential collisions with
human workers.
• Additional methods to minimize dangers can include camera vision, torque
sensors, laser scanners, LED and audio feedback
APPLICATIONS OF COBOTS IN
INDUSTRY

• Pick and Place

• Packaging and Palletizing
• Process Tasks
• Finishing Tasks
• Quality Inspection
7 ADVANTAGES OF USING
COBOTS
1. Fast installation
2. Quickly programmed
3. Can be used in different departments.
4. More consistent and accurate than humans.
5. Positive effect on employees.
6. Employees become happier in their work.
7. Increased productivity and process optimization.
DISADVANTAGES OF COBOTS
• Cobots are not a good choice when it comes to higher loads
• Cobot speed is limited
• Cobots are not entirely independent
• Safety approval of cobots can be troublesome
• The cobot may require a restricted working area to ensure
employee’s safety.
• The initial cost of setting up the cobot’s cell can be substantial.
CONCLUSION
• Today we find most cobots working for people in industries,
factories, warehouses, and laboratories. Cobots are useful in
many ways. For instance, it boosts economy because businesses
need to be efficient to keep up with the industry competition.
Therefore, having cobots helps business owners to be
competitive, because cobots can do jobs better and faster than
humans can, e.g. Cobot can built, assemble a car. Yet cobots
cannot perform every job; today cobots roles include assisting
research and industry. Finally, as the technology improves, there
will be new ways to use cobots which will bring new hopes and
new potentials.
