Community Identification

Community identification is a
systematic process of collecting
various information regarding a
community for assessing health
status of community members
and various factors affecting the
health status.
Advantages of Community
identification

1. It is helpful in obtaining informations


regarding structure of community , health
status of people , their health needs and
problems and factors affecting health status.
2. It provide an opportunity to the nurse to
communicate with the community members
which improves their interpersonal and
working relationship.
3. It encourages active community
participation in planning ,implementation
and evaluation of health services.

3. Information’s regarding special risky groups

5. Environmental characteristics

 Name of the area
 Location
 Size
 Boundaries of the area
 Main landmarks
 Roads, streets, main building in the area
 To prepare map of the area
Population related information

These includes-
1. Total population
2. Composition of the population
3. Population density
4. No of total families
5. Average size of the families
6. Classification of the population based on age
7. Sex ratio
8. Caste wise classification of the population
9. Classification on the basis of economic status
etc

groups
