MEANING

• Corporate social Responsibility is a strategy undertaken by companies


to not just grow profits, but also to take an active and positive social
role in the world around them.
• INTRODUCTION:
The Bank's CSR mission is to contribute to the social and economic
development of the community. Through a series of interventions, the
bank seeks to mainstream economically, physically and socially
challenged groups and to draw them into the cycle of growth,
development and empowerment.
CSR POLICY

• The policy has been formulated and adopted in terms of Section


135 of the Companies Act, 2013.
• It aims in enhancing welfare measures of the society based on the
immediate and long term social and environmental consequences
of the Corporation’s activities in India.
• As one of the largest CSR spenders in India, HDFC Bank continued
to maintain its position in the 500 Crore CSR club by allocating Rs.
736 Crores to CSR projects in the fiscal year 2021-22.
CSR INITIATIVES

• HDFC continued its association and involvement with the


social sector through direct partnerships with non-
government organizations (NGOs) as well as its partnership
with the HT Parekh Foundation. HDFC's social initiatives cover
areas such as child welfare, community development &
livelihood program, support to the differently abled,
education, healthcare & sanitation, vocational training and
other such initiatives serving the betterment of society as
a whole.
One of their notable initiatives is the "HDFC Bank Parivartan"
program, launched by Haryana Government.
The Main areas that are covered under this Program are:
• Rural Development
• Skill Development
• Healthcare& Hygiene
• Financial Literacy
• Education
Budget:

• Mumbai, July 22, 2022: HDFC Bank was among the top CSR
spenders in the country for the financial year ended March 2022. As
reported in its Integrated Annual Report 2021-22, the Bank spent Rs
736 crore on CSR initiatives, a 15.92% increase over the previous
year.
• Amount required to be spent by the Bank during the year: The
amount required to be spent by HDFC Bank on CSR activities has
seen a growth of 12.18% from 2022 to 2023, increasing from Rs.
733.86 crores to Rs. 823.30 crores.
• HDFC Bank has announced the launch of its sixth annual
grants program for social startups in partnership with the
government of India’s flagship initiative ‘Startup India’.
The grants has been offered under the name of Parivartan
program, the umbrella name for the bank’s social initiatives.
• So far, the bank has disbursed over Rs 30 crore to more than
45 incubators which supported over 165 start-ups working in
areas like environment, agri- business, ed-tech, waste
management, healthcare, and skill development sectors. The
bank has been enabling startups through its state-of-the-art
StartUp program, which provides specialised banking and
value-added services to entrepreneurs.
