    Preposiciones de lugar en inglés: in, on, under, in front of, behind, between, next to, across from.

    (Prepositions of place)

    In
    Significa dentro de o en*

    The ring is in my pocket / El anillo está en mi bolsillo


    *No se usa para expresiones como en la pared, en el techo, etc.

    On*

    Significa sobre o encima de

    The phone is on the bed / El teléfono está sobre la cama


    *Esta preposición se usa para expresiones como en la pared (on the wall) y en el techo (on ceiling)

    The new painting is on the wall / El nuevo cuadro está en (sobre) la pared
    Behind
    Significa detrás de o atrás de

    The lamps are behind the curtain / Las lamparas están detrás de la cortina

    Next to
    Significa al lado de

    My house is next to a big library / Mi casa está al lado de una biblioteca grande
    Under
    Significa debajo de

    There is a nice restaurant under that bridge / Hay un buen restaurante debajo de ese puente

    In front of
    Significa en frente de o delante de

    My older brother is in front of the TV / Mi hermano mayor está frente al televisor


    Between
    Significa en medio de o entre

    The police station is between the bank and my sister’s house / La estación de policía está entre el banco y la casa de
    mi hermana

    Notas importantes acerca de las preposiciones de lugar:

    Muchas veces los hablantes del español comenten el error de agregar de forma incorrecta la palabra OF (behind of,
    under of) delante de las preposiciones. Esto tiene sentido en español, pero NO en inglés. Ejemplo:

    Incorrecto: The TV is under of the bed

    Correcto: The TV is under the bed / El televisor está debajo de la cama
