DUST OF SNOW

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a Hemlock tree

Has given my heart


A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued

Hemlock: a poisonous plant with
small white flowers

POINTS

It ’s a winter’s day


The poet was sitting under a snow covered hemlock tree which is
poisonous.
A crow alighted on the tree and and mass of snow flakes started
falling on the poet who was sitting under the tree.
The images of crow and the hemlock tree are quite ordinary.
But it had an impact on the poet’s mind.
Before this the poet was in a depressive mood.
But this simple act of a crow throwing flakes of snow had a
positive impact on him.
The fall of snow over him changes his mood and mental state.
It lifted his mood
The day was otherwise not favourable for him.
But the fall of snow made him realise that even trivial things bring
happiness on your way.
If he had not experienced such a pleasant experience,he would
have regretted the wastage of the whole day.
POETIC DEVICES
ALLITERATION:
Alliteration is the repetition of same consonant sound
in the nearby words.

RHYME SCHEME
Rhyme Scheme is the pattern of rhyming lines in a stanza or
throughout the poem.
The rhyme scheme in the Dust of Snow is :

The dust of snow-a

The significance of trivial things

The poem tells us that even trivial things in life


can make big changes .
Every thing around us has its own feel and
importance.
If we have the capacity to find positivity out of
anything negative that makes life different
MESSAGE

The message conveyed through the poem Dust Of Snow by


Robert Frost is that in life we can very easily find positivity
out of negative things too . A true frame of mind with a
postive feel can very easily come out of any negativity of
life to live it to the fullest with vigour and valour.
