DATA , INFORMATION, KNOWLEDGE & DATABASE

Data :- Raw fact and figure is called data.

Information :- process format of data is called information.
Knowledge :- The concept of understanding information is called knowledge.
Database :- A database is the systematic collection of data.
WHAT IS DATA MINING?

Data mining is also called knowledge discovery in data(KDD).

Data mining is the process of extracting useful information from large
amount of data in order to take decision.
Data mining is extraction of useful patters form data sources, e.g.,
databases, texts, web, image.
Patterns must be:
valid, useful, understandable
DATA PREPARATION

All data mining technic required Data preparation . The data preparation means
to transfer data in appropriate format so that it can produce better model . Be
preparing the data, the error prediction rate is also low.
KNOWLEDGE DISCOVERY IN DATA: PROCESS

• Data Cleaning :- Data cleaning is the process of removing incorrect , corrupted ,

incorrectly formatted duplicate, or incomplete data .

• Data Selection :- In this step, the data related to the analysis is retrieved from the data collection
by decide it.

• Data Transformation :- In this step the data is transferred in such an appropriate form which is
the requirement of the mining process .

• Data Mining :- IN this step apply the data mining technique to extract the useful information or
pattern from data .

• Pattern Evaluation :- In this step the data pattern is evaluated.

• Knowledge Presentation :- In this step, data mining results are represented by using
visualization tools.
DATA MINING TECHNIQUES

• Association rule
• Clustering
• Sequential patterns
ASSOCIATION RULE

In this process the identify the

relationship between data items of
large sets. It is also determine that
which item is frequently buy.
For example:- Market basket analysis
Items that people buy frequently are
kept around. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND
CLUSTERING

In this technique, objects are grouped

on the basis of similar index, objects
which are similar, grouped in a cluster
and dissimilar objects are grouped in
another cluster .

SEQUENTIAL PATTERN

It is useful for identifying trends, or

regular accuracy of similar events .
For example :- With customer buy a
particular collection of products
together at different time of the year.
ADVANTAGES OF DATA MINING:-

Organizations obtain knowledge base data with the help of data mining
techniques.
Data mining helps in decision making of the organization.
Financial institutions and banks identify defaulters with the help of
data mining .
DISADVANTAGES OF DATA MINING:-

Many times the company sells the important information of the customer to
other companies for money.
Many E-commerce company gets to know in which time period the user comes
online or transacts based on historical data patterns .
Data mining analytics software is difficult to operate and requires knowledge
base training of the user .
The accuracy of data mining technic is not 100% .
Information is misused.
CONCLUSION

Until now , we have used some techniques in data mining.

In general, to take knowledge from the data, we first need to determine the objective ,
what do we want from the data, we can make overview, describe the data . After that, we
can use the data mining techniques to extract the information from data and take decision.
