Example :-
Singular subject: The cat is sleeping.
Plural subject: The cats are sleeping.

Subjects joined by "or" or "nor" require a verb
that agrees with the nearer subject:
Example :-
Neither the dog nor the cats are causing any trouble.
(Since "cats" is nearer to the verb, we use a plural
verb.)
