Objectives:
 identifies situations in which a position paper
may be effectively used in our present society;
 specify situation by citing situations where position
paper may be used, and
 appreciate the essence of position paper by
applying knowledge in writing.
Motivation:
Crossword puzzle with a twist –

on the screen and you will find the

provide a brief explanation.

Activity:
WORD ANALYSIS
In a ½ crosswise, explain the statement to be

2. Define the issue and discuss the
background.
3. Provide a general statement of your
position via your thesis statement.

1. State your main arguments.
2. Provide sufficient evidence for each
argument such as statistics data, interviews
with experts and testimonies.
3. Provide counterarguments against the
possible weaknesses of your arguments.

In a speech on sports and education,
President Obama said that “physical activity
improves emotional wellbeing.”

1. Restate your position and main arguments.
2. Suggest a course of action.
3. State what makes your position superior and
more acceptable.
4. End with a powerful closing statement such as
quotation, challenge or a question.
