drawings to check weather the executed works are
as per the contract conditions.
7. Reviewing of MEP plans & equipment along with
its safety documents & manuals.

2. On field data collection of the various works executed by the Contractor
such as the current site photographs, reports of any faults/cracks seen in
the sculptures etc.
3. Review of the design document and contractual BOQ of the Contractor to
assess that the work executed as per the tender document or not.
4. Carry out all the necessary tests on the structures and sculptures
constructed at site to judge the serviceable life of the structure.
5. Identify the Laboratory test of the required materials from the NABL
certified Laboratories near to the project site.
ANALYSIS OF THE INCIDENT
PROBLEM
Gusty winds caused severe damage to the idols installed at the Mahakal Lok corridor in
Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain. As 6 out of 160 idols collapsed and got damaged.

PROBABLE REASON
Material used for Construction of the Statues were Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP).
These FRP statues were not properly Cemented or Glued to the prepared foundation.
Due to heavy winds and wind pressure the unhinged statues falls on the floor and
breaks due to impact with the ground.
ANALYSIS OF THE INCIDENT
PROPOSED SOLUTION
1. Use of Stone, Marble or Metal crafted Idols in place of these
FRP made idols. This not only gives proper self weight stability
to the Idols but also gives nice Architectural look to the space.

2. If the FRP idols are to be used, then ensure proper mechanical fastening of the
Idols with the foundation. The use of screws, bolts or even anchor rods can be
done by drilling the anchor rod in both Idol & the foundation, so that it keeps the
Idol in place as required.

3. The use of Concrete filling in the prepared FRP idols can done, as it will not only
increase the core strength of the Idol but will also give sufficient resistance to the
heavy winds and will be a stable structure.

4. Prepare stronger base for the Idols and ensure stable joint between the
Foundation pedestal and the Idol.
ANALYSIS OF THE INCIDENT
PROPOSED SOLUTION
5. Complete design of the Idol foundation and its joint with the foundation for all
type of loads such as dead load, seismic load & wind loads must be thoroughly
checked and verified/vetted from the Engineering institute of repute.

6. If FRP materials are used proper tests as per IS-12866 should be carried out.

7. Steel wire reinforcement be shall be considered to avoid breakages by external

forces.

8. Epoxy being used in FRP should be tested for Ultra Violet exposer for
sustainable life. Ozone test on material shall be made compulsory.

9. Surface cracks, discoloration due to ozone attack along with UV attack are
normal on FRP material. While deciding the specifications a clause indicating
the same must be incorporated.
INNOVATIVE WAYS OF WORKING
1. Real time monitoring of all the tasks being performed on mobile app
based modules will be done to ensure project timeline is not
crossed.

2. Use of the BLG app can be done to ensure that proper progress of
the work is maintained.

3. Prepare the work specific timeline via app based module so that one
has to complete the specified task in given work-frame.
INNOVATIVE WAYS OF WORKING CONTI.
5. Use of MS monitoring systems we can identify the real time stresses and
moments generated in the structures. This will help us to keep a regular check on
the installed structures.
6. Implement detailed Work Plan & Work Schedule so that timely operations can be
performed.
7. The Technical Experts as per the site and work requirements be mobilized with
specific tasks & specific timeline for finishing the work in timeline.
8. Individual will be monitored for the results and timely outputs to achieve the
given goals in time.
9. Making the required Testing Equipment's available at site for ensuring the
complete quality control at site.
10. As per the BOQ items both destructive and Non destructive testing of materials if
required, shall be got done from NABL accredited laboratories.
