WORLD
AROUND
OBJECTIVES
1. Observe and describe the living things in their world.
2. Describe how maps and globes teach us about the
world.
3. Use map to locate places.
4. Recite the seven continents and the five oceans in
the globe.
The globe and the world map are both
W H AT representations of Earth.
IS THE GLOBE

• The globe represents the places on Earth in the circular

shape of a planet.
• The world map gives a flat image of Earth.
DO YOU AGREE?

Maps are more often used than

globes because they are easier to
carry.
STOP AND THINK

Why would you use a

map?
W H AT
IS A MAP

• A map is a flat picture of an area.

• Maps can be found in brochures, in books, on
phones, or as pieces of paper.
• Maps help you find where you are and where you
want to go.

NORTH AMERICA
HOW SOUTH AMERICA
MANY CONTINENTS ARE THERE
EUROPE
Earth has seven
continents (landmasses).

7
AFRICA
They are all unique and
have their own special ASIA
features, such as different
animals, plants, climates, AUSTRALIA
and cultures.
ANTARCTICA
ASIA- biggest
continent
It is also home to many of the
world's most important
religious sites, including the
Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the
Wailing Wall in Jerusalem,
and the Angkor Wat temple in
Cambodia.
ASIA- biggest
continent
Asia takes about
30% of the land
of the Earth.
ASIA- biggest
continent
Mt. Everest
ASIA- biggest
continent
Dead Sea
(between the
countries of
Israel and
Jordan)
AFRICA
Africa is the most
genetically diverse
continent on earth, with
a greater range of
genetic diversity than
any other continent.
NORTH AMERICA
North America: A Diverse
and Dynamic Continent
North America is a vast
continent with diverse
landscapes, cultures, and
wildlife, spanning from the
Arctic to the tropics.
SOUTH AMERICA
It is home to the Amazon
rainforest, the Andes
mountains, the Atacama
desert, and many
other natural wonders
and cultural treasures.
ANTARCTICA
The treaty designates Antarctica
as a scientific preserve and
prohibits military activity,
mining, and territorial claims.
It was the last continent to be
discovered, and was first sighted
in 1820 by a Russian expedition.
EUROPE
Europe is home to a
wide variety of
languages, including
German, French, Italian,
Spanish, Russian, and
many others.
AUSTRALIA
It is home to over
10,000 beaches, and
is the only continent
that doesn't have an
active volcano.
ATLANTIC OCEAN
HOW ARCTIC OCEAN
MANY OCEANS ARE THERE
PACIFIC OCEAN
There are five oceans

in the world. These are

PACIFIC- largest
ocean
The Pacific Ocean: A World
of Wonders and Challenges
The Pacific Ocean is
the largest and deepest
ocean on Earth, covering
almost a third of the planet's
surface and holding more
water than all other oceans
combined.
ATLANTIC OCEAN
The Atlantic Ocean is
the second largest ocean,
covering one-fifth of Earth's
surface and separating two
continents.
The ocean is divided into two
by the Equatorial Counter
Current, creating the North
and South Atlantic Oceans.
SOUTHERN OCEAN
The Southern Ocean: A New
Frontier
The Southern Ocean is the newest
and fifth world ocean, officially
recognized by National Geographic
in 2021.
It is also a key player in regulating
the global climate, as it absorbs
carbon dioxide and heat from the
atmosphere and stores them in the
deep ocean.
INDIAN OCEAN
Indian Ocean: A Young and
Diverse Ocean
The Indian Ocean is the third
largest and youngest of the world's
oceans, covering about 20% of the
Earth's surface.
It is also a region of geological
activity, with volcanoes, earthquakes,
tsunamis, and the deepest point in the
ocean, the Java Trench.
ARCTIC OCEAN
The Arctic Ocean: A Frozen
Frontier
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and
shallowest of the world's five
oceans, but also the most mysterious
and remote.
It covers about 4% of the Earth's
surface, but most of it is frozen over
by thick ice that polar bears and seals
use as hunting grounds.

ACTIVITY:

LET’S INVITE
DORA THE
EXPLORER
ACTIVITY:
Scenario:
A group of tourists went for a vacation in your town. They
wanted to visit different places there. Being a famous tour
guide, Mayor asked Dora to draw a map showing the
different landforms and bodies of water in Batangas. You
may include in your map the activities that can be done in
each place you Identified.
ACTIVITY:
Scenario:

For example, if there is a river in your town, you can write

or draw about boating for that specific area. This way, the
tourists can have an idea of the things they could do during
their stay. Your map should be complete and clearly show
the location of each landform and body of water.
