    THE BEAUTIFUL
    CULTURE OF PALAWAN
    The province of Palawan is known as the
    Philippine's “last ecological frontier”.

    An archipelago composed of main island


    and more than 1,700 islands.

    It is endowed with rich natural


    resources and highly diverse flora and
    fauna found in both land and sea.
    Palawan is one of the best places to visit in
    the Philippines, is consistently ranked as
    one of the best islands in the world.

    It boasts white sand beaches and islands,


    clear blue waters, a spectacular variety of
    marine life and shipwreck sites, and
    majestic towering limestone cliffs.

    SULING (BANDED FLUTE)
    Made of a long tube bamboo which has very
    thin surface . The head of suling near a
    small hole is circled with a thin-band made
    of rattan to produce air vibration.
    AGUNG

    The agung is a set of two wide-rimmed, vertically


    suspended gongs used by the Maguindanao,
    Maranao, Sama-Bajau and Tausug people of the
    Philippines as a supportive instrument in kulintang
    ensembles.
    ARUDING

    Aruding. An instrument made of a small piece of


    bamboo. This is called "jaw's harp" in English. It
    is placed near the mouth and blown to produce
    sound.
    PAGANG
    Musical instrument (pagang) made of part of a
    section of telang bamboo (bulu' telang). Two
    strings cut out from the bmboo itself are held
    away from the body of the instrument with small
    pieces of bamboo; a hole between these strings is
    covered with another piece of bamboo, attached
    to them.
    KUDYAPI

    The kutiyapi, or kudyapi, is a Philippine two-


    stringed, fretted boat-lute. It is four to six feet
    long with nine frets made of hardened beeswax.
    The instrument is carved out of solid soft wood
    such as that from the jackfruit tree.
