Brief on eGovernance

• eGovernance, simply defined, is leveraging ICT solutions for transforming the reach and quality of
the Government’s service delivery to Citizens

• It is being increasingly viewed as an enabler and facilitator of ‘Good Governance’

• Aim of eGovernance is to:

• Improve the quality, cost, accessibility, and speed of delivering Government Information and
Services

• Make Government more accountable by increasing the opportunity for citizen participation in the
governance process

• eGovernance is gaining considerable momentum in India, with several high impact projects being
implemented in both Government-to-Citizen (G2C) and Government-to-Business (G2B) domains,
across Central Ministries and State Departments

• Enabling remote healthcare
• Empowering farmers
• Digital literacy and skills development
